Our Flood Restoration Portfolio (FRP) is the principal delivery agency for restoring Councils' and Community assets. Over the coming months, the team will grow exponentially, offering exciting opportunities for personal and professional development as we deliver many rebuild and transformation projects for our community.
About the OpportunityWe seek a motivated and collaborative individual with highly developed interpersonal, communication, analytical support, organisational, and administrative skills. You will have a proven ability to proactively take ownership of complex issues and work with others to deliver outcomes. You will need to enjoy a challenge, be passionate about making a difference, and be willing to work collaboratively and flexibly in an evolving and fast-paced environment.
What we trust you to deliverPrepare, manage, and review the provision of high-level communications and correspondence, including briefings, reports, submissions, and notes, to ensure comprehensiveness, accuracy, and timeliness.
Act as the Executive point of contact, liaise with stakeholders and action requests to coordinate communication, and proactively ensure responses meet deadlines.
Manage and coordinate special projects and initiatives on behalf of the Executive Director.
Anticipate the Executive Director's needs regarding forthcoming events and make appropriate advance arrangements to meet those needs.
Implement, monitor, and report on strategic, operational, and project plans to inform decision-making and support achieving Portfolio objectives.
Analyse information from various sources to provide strategic advice on complex matters and prepare planning reports.
Represent the Executive Director in committees and meetings where necessary, advocating for their position, reviewing papers, and handling correspondence.
Conduct operational support activities to facilitate smooth Portfolio operations.
Address emerging issues effectively to minimise risks to the organisation.
To be successful in this role, you will be passionate about driving positive brand and stakeholder engagement, hold relevant tertiary qualifications, and have proven success in a similar senior leadership role.
You will be contemporary and dynamic in your approach, able to influence, build, and maintain trust-based solid stakeholder relationships. Your success will affirm your ability to lead and empower complex teams, drawing upon your high-level focus and business acumen.
Excellent communication skills, the ability to write clearly and edit accurately to publish quality, easily understood information for internal and external audiences, and effectively communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences in plain English.
A demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and work co-operatively with people at all levels to achieve outcomes, including construction environments.
Experience managing contracts, external agencies, and suppliers and strong organisational skills are essential for the team's success.

What you'll need to be successfulThe successful candidate will have advanced communication skills, solid writing capability, and exceptional attention to detail.
You are self-motivated, enjoy working independently, and possess proven organisation, prioritisation, and time management skills.
You will have a proven ability to anticipate, identify, and mitigate potential barriers, challenges, or risks to achieving outcomes using strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
You will utilise inclusive and collaborative working methods, that builds cooperation and encourages information sharing.
You are committed to delivering impactful change and meaningful deliverables to the Lismore Government Area.
You will also be able to align your ways of working with Council's culture and the goals of the Portfolio.
You will have demonstrated experience in planning and delivering community infrastructure outcomes for local communities (preferable but not mandatory).

This position is a full-time, term-based appointment until 31 December 2026
This is an annualised salary rate + superannuation.
The position will be based primarily at our Flood Portfolio Office in Lismore. Flexible work options are available, working within operational requirements.
