About the role: Rabobank's Local Compliance Office, within the bank's broader Compliance function, is responsible for providing subject matter expertise on compliance matters across all divisions and business units across Australia. The Executive Manager, Local Compliance Office will report to the Head of Local Compliance Officer, Australia and be based in Sydney.
This is a great opportunity to make a difference and drive change end-to-end. Upon joining, you will review and assess the current delivery model and redesign for optimal business partnership and consistency across all of Rabobank Australia's business units and divisions.
The Executive Manager, Compliance Local Office is responsible for leading a team of Compliance business partners. In addition, you will work closely with other members of the Compliance Leadership team to support Compliance strategy, enhance awareness, and accountability throughout the organisation in line with the agreed risk culture.
This role is key for the effective oversight of key organisational processes, in line with regulatory expectations, policies, and standards to ensure the effective management of key compliance risks which includes Treating Clients Fairly (TCF), Conflict of Interest, Anti Bribery and Corruption (ABC), Market Abuse, Modern Slavery, Greenwashing, Fraud, Privacy, and Record Keeping.
Top Role Accountabilities: People leadership: Lead the team to provide consistent compliance guidance and oversight across all business areas, acting as a change agent.Manage the team to meet business needs and ensure timely compliance, including optimal allocation of responsibilities.Collaborate with Compliance teams to recommend and implement processes that ensure compliant-by-design, consistent customer experiences that achieve strategic outcomes.Ensure robust governance frameworks and provide thought leadership to maintain effective systems, controls, and monitoring activities.Support incident management, breach reporting, and remediation activities, liaising with senior management and providing necessary input for internal and external reporting.Identify and lead process improvement initiatives to strengthen Local Compliance Office activities and establish performance expectations.Coach and guide team members and business partners.Business partnership: Be the business partner for the allocated business area/s offering guidance, advice, and oversight within agreed timelines.Support Head of Compliance by: Preparing and coordinating key reports for Boards, Committees, Group, Management, and Business Units.Attending and presenting at Executive, Risk and Compliance, and Management Committee meetings as required.Driving culture initiatives and embodying Rabobank values as a positive and constructive Culture role model.Developing and maintaining strong relationships with Line 1 Risk and Compliance stakeholders, Line 2 Operational Risk and Compliance, and Line 3 Audit colleagues.Performing other duties as directed, including any delegated responsibilities.To be successful in the role, you will have: 12+ years Risk and Compliance experience.6+ years' experience in leading, managing, and developing compliance teams.An ability to be both strategic and hands-on in delivering objectives.Extensive experience developing, embedding, and advising on risk/compliance obligations, processes, and controls.An in-depth understanding of compliance requirements and practices in the Australian financial services sector.Deep knowledge of risk and compliance principles, frameworks, and control practices.Well-developed interpersonal skills, with an ability to build trust and establish strong relationships.A continuous improvement mindset and demonstrate high levels of initiative.An ability to work in the Rabobank Sydney office 3 days per week.Our Values Rabobank Australia values inclusion, belonging, and positive experiences for all.
