The Manager, Digital Product, is responsible for operationalising and embedding digital product management processes that enhance audience engagement and deliver innovative digital experiences. The role focuses on managing the lifecycle of the Museum's digital products, aligning them with strategic objectives, and ensuring accessibility and usability standards are met. Working under the guidance of the Head of Digital, the Manager oversees the implementation of key digital initiatives, including the migration to a unified content management system (CMS) and the development of a design system.The position plays a key role in fostering a culture of user-centered design and data-driven decision-making within the Digital team, while collaborating across divisions to deliver high-quality, audience-focused outcomes.What will the successful candidate bring to the role?The Museum has commenced a multi-year digital renewal program that will see expansive change across all digital products and disciplines. We are seeking a candidate with the ambition to help drive our vision forward through effective product management that develops leading digital products and services.The ideal candidate should possess three to five years of experience in digital product management. They will be experienced in overseeing the selection and implementation of content management systems. They should be adept at managing teams of specialist staff and have a track record of effectively managing budgets and resources to complete digital initiatives.They will be experienced in implementing product management processes, methodology and tools, as well as championing audience-led design across the Museum. They will have strong technical, analytical, prioritisation and negotiating skills, and will be experienced in accessible design, usability and customer-focused design.The role will be outcomes driven and future-focused with a proven interest in working in a dynamic digital environment and with a strong range of digital skills and experience.Key accountabilitiesLead the development, implementation, and management of the Museum's digital products, aligning initiatives with strategic objectives and the Digital Transformation Strategy.Oversee the migration of digital products to a unified CMS and the development of a standardised design system, ensuring consistency and usability.Embed audience-led design principles by conducting user research and leveraging audience analytics to inform product development and digital engagement strategies.Manage the lifecycle of digital products, including continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) processes to ensure performance, relevance and accessibility.Provide leadership and mentorship to the Digital team, fostering collaboration, innovation and professional development.Collaborate with internal teams, including marketing, IT, and curatorial, to align digital initiatives with the Museum goals and deliver seamless user experiences.Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers to ensure the delivery of high-quality digital solutions.Monitor project progress and outcomes, managing budgets, contracts, and timelines to meet key deliverables.Ensure compliance with legal and industry standards, including accessibility, privacy and security guidelines, across all digital products.Identify opportunities for innovation by monitoring digital trends and emerging technologies to enhance the Museum's digital presence.Advocate for digital initiatives and resources by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to shape the Museum's digital vision and strategy.Skills, experience and qualificationsHighly developed product management skills, including the ability to develop and implement CMS and standardised design systems.Demonstrated experience in designing and embedding product management processes, methodologies and tools to support effective digital product delivery.Proven ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary teams, including mentoring specialist resources such as researchers, analysts, experience and visual designers, and product owners, to deliver high-quality outcomes.Extensive experience in translating corporate strategy into actionable and prioritised product roadmaps, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.Proven experience in managing and reporting on budgets, contracts, project plans and key deliverables, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within scope.A bachelor's degree in digital technologies, interaction design, computer science or a related field.Experience in cultural institutions or creative industries, with a thorough knowledge of current trends in digital technologies, social media, and experience design, and demonstrated ability to apply this knowledge effectively to enhance digital engagement.To be eligible to apply for this vacancy, applicants must:be an Australian citizenundergo pre-employment checks, including a police record checkhold or be eligible to hold a security clearance at the level specified in the position description.The National Museum of Australia is an equal employment opportunity workplace.
