Executive Level 1 - Legislation and Policy Lead, Digital Health Branch

Full time$116,418 - $132,777 p.a + 15.4% superannuationAre you an individual with strong experience in policy development and legislative reform, who can work independently and also lead a sub-team, while supporting broader team objectives and outcomes?

Then this role is for you!Key responsibilities include:Lead policy development and/or legislative change processes.Manage a small team to effectively deliver on programs of work, including through project and stakeholder management.Provide accurate and timely policy advice or program management reporting to departmental executive.Liaise with and manage key stakeholder relationships in both the policy and delivery bodies of work.Develop briefings for the Minister for Health, a range of internal and external committees, and external media or communications products as required.Undertake procurement and manage finances to support project delivery.Key Capabilities include:Understand government processes and systems, particularly in relation to Cabinet, legislation, and Budget processes.Demonstrated ability to lead the work associated with policy development and legislative reform initiatives.Demonstrated conceptual and analytical skills, including sound judgement and the ability to interpret information and apply it to the development of policy.Effectively lead a team and work collaboratively with colleagues in a team environment.Demonstrated high standard of written and verbal communication skills.Excellent organisational and planning skills, with a proven ability to prioritise tasks to meet tight deadlines and manage individual and team resources to deliver outcomes.Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to consult, liaise and negotiate with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.Understanding of the legislative environment and barriers to information sharing in the healthcare sector, particularly in relation to privacy legislation.Capacity to use evidence, including quantitative data where appropriate, to prepare high quality reports and advice.Program and/or project management skills including the ability to monitor schedules, risks and deliverables.Experience in policy development and legislative reform.Experience working independently and leading a sub-team, while supporting broader team objectives and outcomes.Experience with creating clear policy advice and drafting compelling narratives.To be eligible for employment with the Department of Health and Aged Care applicants must be an Australian citizen at the time an offer of employment is made.Applications close on the 11 October at 11:30pm AEDT.Applicants are asked to quote reference number 24-MBDHDIV-26775 to assist when making an enquiry.The Department of Health has a diverse set of responsibilities, but throughout there is a common purpose, which is reflected in our Vision statement: Better health and wellbeing for all Australians, now and for future generations.We aim to achieve our Vision through strengthening evidence-based policy advice, improving program management, research, regulation and partnerships with other government agencies, consumers and stakeholders.
