Working at CQUniversity The Gladstone Region engaging in action Together (GRT) Backbone Team are responsible for supporting and enabling community to lead social change and create opportunity, equity and quality of life for everyone in the Gladstone Region. The Backbone Team undertake continuous community engagement to ensure that community voice and lived experience guide the identification and prioritisation of local needs, and blend qualitative and quantitative data to assist local understanding of causal factors, and enable local champions to co-design and test solutions and measure outcomes.
As the Executive Director for GRT you will serve as a public ambassador for the Gladstone Region within state and national networks and forums, to amplify the place-based work where commonalities present with other communities, by representing local needs, while contributing to and leveraging broader advocacy and change efforts. You will role model the confidence and humility required to lead from behind, and guide the GRT Leadership Group, Operations Manager and Backbone Team in strategic positioning aligned to GRT's principles and collective impact methodology, while maintaining community as the lead voice.
We seek a proactive, visionary professional with significant leadership experience in community strategic planning or social impact management. You will manage stakeholder relationships, oversee financial management, and leverage collective impact methodologies to guide the Backbone team in enabling the community-led social change movement.

Advanced degree in social, human rights policy, political, business, or related field. At least 5-10 years of relevant work experience, including at least 3 years enabling high performing teams in a fast-paced environment. The executive presence to inspire confidence and passion in both internal and external audiences. Advanced strategy and planning skills, including an ability to think strategically on both organisational and systemic levels over multi-year horizons. Strong data acumen and ability to oversee complex shared-measurement systems. Strong facilitation and presentation skills before multiple types of audiences. Experience with complex project management and stakeholder management. Existing relationships with, or ability to build relationships with, a cross-sectoral range of stakeholders in the local or regional area, including senior executives. A track record of leading, inspiring, and developing high-performance teams. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build authentic relationships with a diverse set of high-profile stakeholders. Comfort with ambiguity and ability to thrive in a fluid, entrepreneurial environment; willingness to participate in the work and extend beyond formal responsibilities based on the needs of the work. Desired Attributes: Local knowledge of the Gladstone Region. Familiarity with first nations communities and history within the Australian or local context. Familiarity with Australian and Queensland social sector networks and political environments. Community development, social change or collective impact experience.
