DEPARTMENT OF PLANNING, LANDS AND HERITAGE The Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage is seeking a dynamic leader with extensive experience in urban planning, governance, and compliance.
This individual will facilitate transparent decision-making and foster relationships with diverse stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes as the Executive Director of Development Assessment Panels (DAPs). Development Assessment Panels are independent decision-making bodies responsible for the determination of development applications.
As the Executive Director, you will lead and manage the DAP system, ensuring informed and transparent decision-making, good practice, and effective operations.
With strong experience and knowledge of complex built-form and land use developments, you will provide strategic planning advice to panel members and Government leaders, building productive relationships with key stakeholders of the DAP system.
The role also involves facilitating DAP member appointments, managing conflicts of interest, representing DAPs in various forums, and ensuring continuous improvement of the DAP system.
Additionally, the Executive Director will oversee training, financial management, appeal processes, and administrative functions to support effective operations.
This is a five-year, fixed-term contract position, with the possibility of extension and/or permanent appointment.
This process may be used to fill future similar permanent or fixed-term positions that may arise within the Department and across the WA public sector in the next 12 months from the initial date of appointment.
To be successful for this position, you need to demonstrate: Extensive knowledge and experience in the field of Urban and Regional Planning and working with and creating partnerships across the community, business, and industry.An accredited tertiary qualification in urban and regional planning.Core leadership behaviours outlined in Leadership Expectations are applicable to this role and should be demonstrated in the context of Executive Leader.
