The Department of Primary Industries and Regions SA (PIRSA) is a key economic development agency working in partnership with our primary industries, regional stakeholders and across all levels of government to advance the prosperity and sustainability of SA's primary industries and regional communities.The opportunity exists for an experienced leader to join PIRSA's executive team in the role of Executive Director, Biosecurity. This role will be responsible for providing oversight and strategic leadership of PIRSA's Biosecurity Division, including delivery of regulatory and compliance frameworks that protect South Australia from the risks posed by pests, weeds and diseases, food borne illnesses and misuse of agricultural chemicals. This role involves working closely with other agencies to ensure a coordinated, whole-of-government approach to biosecurity, and ensuring policies, processes and strategies are aligned to best practice at the State and national level.The successful candidate will be a strong, innovative leader with a proven track record at a senior management level, ideally with solid understanding of a regulatory or compliance focused environment. While displaying a high standard of ethics and integrity, you will lead by example and work collaboratively to ensure the delivery of cost-effective and efficient services that benefit our State. Fostering excellent communication channels and partnerships with external stakeholders as well as enhancing staff capability will also be a key priority for the role. Alignment with the core competencies of the South Australian Executive Service is essential, along with having tertiary qualifications in a relevant field.
