The Western Rock Lobster Council (WRL) is the industry peak body for the Western Rock Lobster fishery in Australia, which is the first in the world to receive sustainability accreditation from the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC). WRL engages with Managed Fishery License (MFL) holders, advocates on their behalf, and co-manages the fishery with the government.
To maintain high standards of industry representation, WRL is seeking a highly qualified Executive Assistant to support the executive team.
Job tasks and responsibilities The Executive Assistant will report to the CEO and join a seven-person Executive team. The role is based in Fremantle with occasional travel to fishing ports as far as Kalbarri. The tasks include:
Preparation and management of meeting documentation , including agendas and meeting minutes. Preparing written and verbal reports, correspondence, and presentations for the CEO and board. Liaising on behalf of the CEO with external stakeholders and government agencies. Collaboration with Members and stakeholders to produce high-quality results. Coordinating projects with the Fisheries Research and Development Corporation (FRDC). Managing relationships with third-party research providers. Coordinating the annual MSC certification processes. Assisting in the planning and development of project proposals. Coordinating meetings, including scheduling and logistics. Making travel arrangements for board and staff. General administrative duties. Communicating R&D outcomes to members and stakeholders. Establishing strong working relationships with members and stakeholders. Additional responsibilities may arise as the role develops. Skills and experience The role requires a motivated individual with extensive experience as an Executive Assistant. Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail. Excellent administrative and communication skills. Proven strategic and operational management skills. Ability to manage a diverse workload effectively. Experience in planning and managing projects. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to work with a variety of stakeholders. Flexibility and capability to achieve tasks within a small team environment. Initiative to tackle tasks beyond previous experience. Although viewed favourably, it is not essential that our preferred Executive Assistant has:
Experience in a similar role or the fishing industry. Relevant degree qualifications in marine science/business. Knowledge of industry representative body activities.
