The Opportunity An exciting opportunity has opened for an Environmental Scientist to join our Environment & Planning Team in Brisbane. It is a great time to join the KBR team as we continue to develop a strong pipeline of diverse, interesting projects for a range of clients in QLD and nationally.
This is a chance to be involved in a growing multi-disciplinary team, applying and developing your technical skills, and over time, managing your own portfolio of work. You also have the opportunity to lead front-end environment and planning services for KBR's various market sector design services contracts. You will work alongside an experienced cadre of senior environmental professionals, who will closely support and coach you.
Key responsibilities of the role: Scope, plan and conduct technical environment impact assessments in various environmental settingsLead and carry out fieldwork activities such as soil, surface water, sediment, and/or ecology assessments in terrestrial and marine environmentsLearn, understand and apply local, state, and federal environmental legislation, policies, and guidelines to your project deliverablesProvide input to, and over time lead, the provision of advice on environment and planning matters to support timely delivery of KBR's design projects, including assessment of local, state, and/or federal legislation and preparing approval application documentationWork in close collaboration with your peers, and with design services staff to ensure requirements are clearly defined, securing best outcomes for our designs to avoid, mitigate, or manage environmental impactsDevelop solutions to achieve improved environmental and sustainability outcomes on KBR's projectsContribute to preparation of proposals and bids for securing new and ongoing workSupervise and coach junior and graduate staff who will support you on your projectsPlan and lead ad hoc fieldwork, at times in remote locationsProduce high-quality reports and deliverablesOver time, interact with and manage client relationshipsWho are you? You are an environmental professional, passionate about what you do and developing your skills and consulting practice. Ideally, you hold recent and relevant environmental consulting experience in Australia. You are someone who enjoys the dynamics of consulting, taking initiative, and developing close technical collaborative relationships. You would also be comfortable in coaching and managing junior staff.
Other requirements: Graduate or postgraduate qualifications in environmental science, environmental planning, or other relevant disciplineRecent experience working within an environmental consultancyProven capability in authoring technical reports and deliverables within environmental scienceExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAble to operate as an individual contributor running their own work, or as part of a multi-disciplinary project teamComfortable meeting and presenting to clientsTechnically proficient in management and interpretation of field dataExperience using GIS software is an advantageInfrastructure Solutions Australia We are committed to social and environmental sustainability and to a safe and inclusive workplace.
