About the role
As our Events Officer, you will play a key role in managing logistics for civic events and supporting community organisations to deliver safe and successful large-scale events. You'll also streamline the event permit approval process, making it simple and efficient for organisers hosting outdoor events on Council land. This role involves collaborating across various Council departments and liaising with external stakeholders, ensuring events meet Council's standards and community expectations.
You will be responsible for planning and managing major Council and community events, ensuring compliance with risk management, permits, and safety regulations. This includes processing event permits, handling invoicing, and coordinating with stakeholders such as government agencies and community groups. You'll oversee sustainable event practices, maintain accurate records, and attend events to ensure smooth operations. Building strong relationships with external partners and ensuring a seamless experience for event organisers are also key components of the role.
About you
You are an experienced event manager with a solid understanding of event logistics, including risk management, health and safety, and permit processes. Your ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders—from government agencies to local community groups—ensures smooth event delivery. Strong communication, both written and verbal, is one of your strengths, and you are comfortable negotiating and resolving conflicts when necessary. You are highly organised, with strong time management skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
Employment Requirements Preferred applicants will be required to undergo a National Police Record Check and hold a valid Working with Children Clearance. Current Victorian Driver's licence How to Apply
