Key Responsibilities:
Conduct research directly aiding in innovative treatments for metabolic disorders such as obesity and type-2 diabetes. Designing and executing in vivo and in vitro experiments focused on metabolism. Collecting, analysing and interpreting data using specialised tools. Delivering clear and timely data presentations at monthly board meetings that will inform decision making. About the Role
This position offers a unique opportunity to join a dynamic collaboration between academia and industry, where the work will directly contribute to innovative treatments for metabolic diseases like obesity and type-2 diabetes. This role is funded by AmarX, a pioneering biotech company dedicated to the development and commercialisation of groundbreaking therapies for metabolic disorders.
This position will drive cutting-edge research at the intersection of neuroscience, metabolic science and translational medicine, as well as having the opportunity to collaborate with top-tier international scientists in both academia and industry to develop impactful treatments.
Who We Are Looking For
You bring a strong desire and capability to build a career that bridges academic research and industry innovation. With demonstrated experience in conducting in vivo experiments using small laboratory animals to study metabolism, you have developed expertise in animal handling, anesthetisation, surgical techniques, and experimental design.
Your proficiency in advanced research methodologies, quantitative and qualitative data analysis, and immunohistochemistry techniques—including RNAscope, immunofluorescence staining, and cryostat sectioning—positions you as a skilled researcher in this field.
Your excellent verbal and written communication skills enable effective collaboration with senior researchers, stakeholders, and research teams, fostering productive partnerships and engagement.
You will also have:
A PhD and technical expertise in neuroscience, metabolic diseases, or a related discipline. Evidence of emerging local academic standing through research contributions. Strong time management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment. This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check.
