Based at our Welshpool Fabrication Workshop and offered on a full time permanent basis, we are seeking someone with a can-do attitude in this well supported, significant role within the company. It will suit someone who can work and problem solve independently and also help lead our small team and leverage resources to deliver quality outcomes for our customers.What we doAlfa Fabrication's primary business is steel fabrication. We service customers in the Energy and Mining sectors as well as wider industry. We take on jobs for customers that include sourcing material and outside co-operation, in house fabrication, surface treatment and assembly or any part thereof. We are also engaged in refurbishment work of existing structures and equipment.What the Role involvesPreparation of steel fabrication quotes including interpretation of drawings, quantifying material costs and estimating job hours and lead times.Procure buy-ins and arrange outside co-operation as needed.Prepare and schedule jobs in co-ordination with the Workshop Manager to arrange resources, establish priorities and efficient workflows to ensure jobs are completed on time.Support and provide workshop with information and oversight to ensure jobs are executed correctly and on time.Required skills/experienceFamiliarity with common Australian steel products (ie. UB's, UC's, PFC's etc), steel fabrication, metal working techniques & workshop environmentsAbility to read and interpret structural & mechanical drawingsCompetent in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word and ExcelGood communication skills (verbal and written)Ability to manage multiple prioritiesC-Class Driver's LicenseAustralian Work RightsDesired skills/experiencePrevious experience in a similar estimating role or fabrication related industryTrade qualified (ie. boilermaker-welder), drafting or engineering backgroundAutoCAD experienceFamiliarity with MYOBThis is a senior role within the business offering lots of variety. Depending on your background and skills, the position would suit either a seasoned operator or someone who has trade experience or familiarity with a fabrication and workshop environment that has strong computer skills and is looking to make a transition into estimating and project managing jobs through to completion. It may even suit someone with a sales background in structural steel looking to pivot into the next phase of their successful candidate will be supported in a very collaborative close-knit environment, to gain the skills and confidence to operate independently and be able to make decisions and effectively influence job flows for optimal role is office based at our Welshpool facility, with regular interactions with the team on the Workshop floor.
