Position Overview: The Estimator is responsible for delivering accurate pricing strategies and estimates for client tenders, variations, and quotes. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the effective financial management of projects by providing detailed and competitive pricing, assisting with the preparation of tender submissions, and contributing to the development of project scopes. The Estimator will work closely with project teams to understand the scope of works, provide cost-effective solutions, and ensure estimates reflect current market conditions.Key Responsibilities:Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for client tenders, variations, and quotes.Develop pricing strategies to enhance the competitiveness and profitability of tender submissions.Assist in the preparation of summary reports on leads, Requests for Tenders (RFTs), and open tenders.Source and evaluate market pricing, ensuring the accuracy and relevance of cost data.Scrutinise received quotes and provide recommendations to management regarding tender submissions.Develop a method of construction to support the scope and subsequent pricing, with a particular focus on smaller works and refurbishment projects.Work closely with the nominated delivery team to coordinate and support the development of programs, methodologies, and project planning documents for tenders.Ensure tender submissions are aligned with the project's scope, market conditions, and company objectives.Assist with the identification and management of potential risks and opportunities within the project lifecycle.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, materials, and market conditions.Skills & Experience:Proven experience in estimating for construction projects, preferably within refurbishment, new build, or civil works sectors.Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines.Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in preparing estimates.Ability to review, interpret, and analyse tender documents and scope of works.Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.Understanding of construction methodologies and the ability to prepare cost-effective pricing strategies based on project scope.Experience with cost estimation software and tools.Ability to assess and interpret market pricing and subcontractor quotes, providing recommendations where needed.Experience with projects ranging from $250k to $20m, with a focus on works under $2.5m.Qualifications:Relevant qualifications in construction, estimating, or a related field (e.g. degree, diploma, or trade background).Relevant industry experience in construction estimating, particularly for refurbishment and new build projects.
