Role Overview:
As an Estimator, you will play a critical role in our client's PreConstruction Team, working on a variety of competitive tenders, Design & Construct (D&C), and Lump Sum projects. With typical project values ranging from $5M to $50M, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates that reflect both private and government sector requirements.
Your strong network of sub-contractors in the Brisbane market will be crucial in ensuring that our client remains competitive, especially in tenders where they may be one of circa two or three bidders.
This role will involve working closely with a small but growing PreConstruction Team, including one Senior Estimator, one Cost Planner, and one Bids/Submissions Specialist. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will have the opportunity to help shape the estimating function as the business grows. There is also potential for this role to evolve into an Estimating Management position within the next 18-24 months, offering a unique career progression opportunity that is rare in Queensland.
Your work will predominantly focus on projects based throughout Queensland, particularly in the Southeast Queensland (SEQ) region. While the company is not currently heavily involved in Early Contractor Involvement (ECI), there are plans to expand into this area as capabilities grow.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare detailed and accurate estimates for competitive tenders, D&C, and Lump Sum projects.
Collaborate with the PreConstruction Team to ensure all estimates align with project specifications and client requirements.
Leverage your strong network of sub-contractors in Brisbane to secure competitive pricing and quality service.
Work on a diverse range of projects, including education, government, commercial, retail, libraries, schools, health, leisure, industrial, and mixed-use developments.
Utilize CostX software to develop and manage estimates.
Provide support and guidance to junior team members as the team grows.
Qualifications:
A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Quantity Surveying.
Minimum of 5 years of estimating experience in the Brisbane market, with a strong understanding of both private and public sector tenders up to $50M.
Proficiency in CostX software.
A solid network of sub-contractors within Brisbane is essential.
Experience with competitive tenders, D&C, and Lump Sum projects.
Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
