We have a seasonal position available for an equine medicine specialist (DipECEIM, DipACVIM or Australian Fellow) in our ICU.
The desired start time is July 2025.
We are particularly looking for someone with skills in critical care and neonatology.
The position will be primarily hospital based with occasional visits on to local stud farms to provide second opinion consultations.
The successful applicant will work alongside four other equine medicine specialists to provide a high level of veterinary care to critically ill neonatal foals, adult horses and post-operative patients.
We admit approximately 1000 cases to the ICU per year, of which more than 200 are critically ill neonatal foals.
The on-call roster is currently a 1 in 4 for weeknights and weekends.
Scone Equine Hospital is the largest equine veterinary practice in Australia, employing approximately 40 equine veterinarians during the breeding season.
We have support from four specialists in equine surgery, one specialist in theriogenology, associate veterinarians, a medicine fellow, interns, and a large team of experienced equine nurses.
Available equipment includes a neonatal ventilator, nasal high flow, a 3m video-gastroscope, video-endoscopy, dynamic endoscopy, diode laser, three ultrasound machines with Doppler, telemetric ECG, digital radiography, CT, and full diagnostic laboratory.
Scone is in the heart of the Thoroughbred breeding industry in Australia.
It is a beautiful part of rural Australia located close to major regional cities and is approximately 3 and ½ hrs drive north of Sydney.
The applicant must meet the necessary requirements to be registered with the Veterinary Practitioners Board of New South Wales.
Salary is commensurate with abilities and experience.
