EOI - Lawyer and Senior Lawyer, APS 6 and EL 1Australian Communications & Media Authority – Sydney NSWLawyer and Senior Lawyer6 Month OpportunityWhat you will do:The successful applicant(s) will provide practical advice on a diverse range of topics, including administrative law, contract law, intellectual property law, privacy law, and FOI requests for the office. They will prepare and review legal policy submissions on complex issues and provide training to eSafety staff as needed. Those supporting eSafety's Investigations Branch will focus on supporting its functions and powers under the Online Safety Act. Candidates focusing on eSafety's Industry Codes and Standards will collaborate with the Compliance and Enforcement Branch responsible for implementing these schemes.The skills & capabilities you need to perform the role:Our ideal candidate(s) will have an understanding of: administrative law, merits review, contract law, privacy and FOI law, intellectual property law, statutory interpretation, co-regulation, enforcement, evidence, and criminal law. They should navigate and advise on new and emerging legal issues in the online safety space, aware of existing and emerging online safety issues from a legal perspective.What you will gain from the experience:This is a great opportunity for Lawyers and Senior Lawyers wanting to broaden their experience in a high-profile regulatory agency. The Legal Services Branch supports the Investigations Branch, primarily in administering four complaint-based schemes to assist victims of cyberbullying, image-based abuse, and online content complaints. The Legal Services Branch also supports the Industry, Compliance, and Enforcement Branch in administering Industry Codes and Standards and the Basic Online Safety Expectations (BOSE).Current ongoing APS employees are eligible to apply for this vacancy by Expression of Interest. There is a possibility that this vacancy may be extended, or for the position to become ongoing as an at-level transfer.
