About the Role:We are seeking a dedicated Environmental Scientist to join our team, responsible for providing high-quality environmental and scientific services to our clients. This role offers a dynamic blend of technical and client-facing duties, with the opportunity to work from home for quiet focus tasks, subject to prior arrangement. Reporting to the Engineering & Scientific Services (ESS) Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our projects align with the company's Vision, Mission, Purpose, Values, and Service Guarantee.
Key Responsibilities: Team Leadership and Mentorship:Ensure scientific integrity in investigations, reports, and proposals.Service Development and Improvement:Develop, validate, and document new products and services to meet market demands.Enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality through improved work and management system procedures.Technical Duties:Plan and conduct environmental and water quality surveys and evaluations.Prepare interpretive reports in line with relevant standards and guidelines.Conduct environmental and water audits, develop management plans, and perform impact modelling.Client and Regulatory Engagement:Liaise with clients and regulatory agencies, providing scientific support and timely responses.Prepare and present technical reports to stakeholders.Professional Development:Maintain and enhance membership with the Environmental Institute of Australia and New Zealand (EIANZ) and as a NATA Signatory for field sampling and testing.Attend and contribute to professional association technical functions regularly.Health, Safety, and Compliance:Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures in the performance of your duties.Candidate Requirements: Experience: 5-7 years in environmental science (not seeking a senior scientist).Qualifications: Relevant qualifications in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, Industrial Chemistry, Forensic Science, or related fields; CEP preferred.Skills: Proficient in environmental auditing, water quality assessments, and modelling (e.g., MEDLI, MUSIC, Hydrus, Pollute, AQQA). Strong client engagement and project management skills.Travel Requirements: Occasional travel within QLD, NSW, NT, and Tasmania; trips typically last one day to a week monthly, with occasional longer trips up to two weeks annually.Typical Projects Include: Compliance monitoring for compost manufacturers, including physical, chemical, and toxicant assessments.EA negotiation and management for resort developments, including sewage effluent management.Monitoring and impact assessment for industrial and landfill sites, including groundwater and surface water.Providing technical support for expert witness services, including peer review and impact assessments.If you are a proactive and motivated Environmental Scientist looking to make an impact, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
