Environmental Scientist / Engineer – Contaminated Land

Our great team culture, technical leaders, and supportive colleagues allow us to tackle interesting and complex projects for our clients whilst ensuring our team members work on rewarding and technically challenging projects.We put well-being, technical excellence, and innovation at the forefront of everything we do.Your work will include the full life cycle of contaminated land management industry across a range of areas including:Collaborating with a team of experts on high-profile projects involving site investigation, environmental due diligence, portfolio assessment, and remediation planning and validation.Working on a range of sites, including government sector assets, petroleum-contaminated areas, mining, and energy sector, to support their compliance requirements, remediation, rehabilitation, and transition to new uses.Balancing technical work with staff development and contribute to business growth within our well-established environmental services team.What you'll doConduct interesting environmental field works (e.g. drilling, hydrogeological testing, site validation, monitoring) with varied considerations for safety and intricate geology/hydrogeology.Collect environmental samples of soil, groundwater, soil vapour, ambient air, and landfill gas, etc.Interrogate large datasets, develop conceptual site models, and prepare detailed and concise field notes.Draft technical assessment reports and recommendations.Oversee contractors and take responsibility for safe, compliant, and quality field works programs.Apply legislation, standards, guidelines, and project specifications.Prepare compelling proposals and lead projects to meet budget and strategic goals.Build strong relationships with colleagues and clients.Guide, mentor, and inspire a team of consultants to reach their highest potential.Contribute to a culture of teamwork, innovation, and passion, promoting trust and unity among team members.Collaborate with the national team to execute initiatives locally.Management of your own projects of small to medium scale.Develop business development strategies and contribute to market action plans for targeted clients.Uphold a strong safety culture and champion safety initiatives.About youYou're likely to have a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, and you're enthusiastic, reliable, and great at building collaborative working relationships.You will also bring:Experience in managing small to medium contaminated-site projects.Knowledge of soil contaminants, site sampling techniques, investigation methodologies, and remediation technologies for groundwater, soil, and gas.Understanding of NSW regulations pertaining to the management of contaminated sites.A current full Australian Driver's License.You're likely to have tertiary education in earth sciences or environmental science/engineering.Some experience in business development, proposal writing, and delivering exceptional client outcomes and cost-effective solutions.Strong project management skills.A collaborative and team-oriented approach to undertaking projects.About WSPWSP is one of the world's leading engineering professional services firms, bringing together approximately 6,000 talented people across 15 offices in Australia.
