Who You Are
As a highly motivated EHS Manager, you will lead a dynamic team in managing EHS program activities. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for aligning the EHS program with the Government Environmental Safety Management System (ESMS). The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of US Government and Host Nation guidance and bilateral agreements on environmental protection as well as occupational health safety principles.
This role will be located in Alice Springs, Australia at a 4,400-acre facility with approximately 687,000 square feet of mission and support space. The EHS Manager will be expected to travel between our facilities in Alice Springs and the local area. This position is expected to be onsite 100%.
What You'll Do
As the EHS Manager, you will:
Develop & Implement environment, health and safety policies and procedures consistent with the Government ESMS
Stay apprised of legislative changes in the US and Host Nation that may affect the Government EHS program and report, document and implement changes
Develop, maintain and disseminate general safety guidance to the Government workforce
Develop, maintain and implement Occupational Health and Safety programs to identify, monitor and correct any physical, chemical or biological hazards
Develop and maintain an EHS Induction and Safety Awareness Training Program for the entire workforce
Prepare appropriate environmental management documentation to maintain compliance as required by the current Host Nation Department of Defense issued Environmental Assessment Report and Heritage Environmental Assessment Report
Develop, maintain, and implement all site environmental procedures, plans, and programs; coordinate environmental management activities of all contractors working on site, and report significant concerns and deficiencies
Manage the operational compliance of EHS responsibilities
Promote EHS performance improvement
Conduct audits and incident investigations
Lead the investigations of serious accidents or incidents having the potential for serious consequences, facilitate root cause analysis evaluation
Audit ESH compliance, training, and record keeping
Coordination and supervision of EHS activities on site
Provide guidance and training in EHS matters to the Environmental Safety Officer
Qualifications:
Must possess an active TS/SCI U.S. Security Clearance with an adjudicated CI polygraph, or Host Nation TS/PV clearance
A minimum of five (5) years of experience managing similar projects of size, scope and complexity
Minimum of two (2) consecutive years of supervisory experience in Environmental Health and Safety Management
Understanding of US and Host Nation bilateral agreements governing EHS
Experience providing high-quality customer service
Ability to maximize technical, performance, and operational efficiencies and minimize lifecycle costs
Ability to work in fast paced environment with excellent oral and written communication skills
Familiarity with a 24/7/365 operational environment
