Details of the offer

The Project
The Riverina Redevelopment Joint Venture is a 50/50 joint venture between CPB Contractors and Downer to undertake major upgrades and replacement of existing infrastructure and facilities to support Defence capability for the next 30 years.
The proposed project consists of a program of works across three Department of Defence establishments including:

Albury Wodonga Military Area (including North, South & East Bandiana, Latchford Barracks, Wirlinga)
Blamey Barracks (Kapooka)
RAAF Base Wagga

The proposed capital investment of $1.7b will incorporate a variety of elements including:

Construction of new messing and living in accommodation
Construction of new training facilities
Refurbishment and upgrading of existing buildings
Remedial works and upgrades to infrastructure services

The Opportunity
As an Environmental Manager for the Wagga Wagga sites, you will initiate and drive best practice Environmental initiatives through the Project by:

Set strategic direction and scope for the management of the environment discipline, including the implementation of effective risk management, compliance and performance strategies.
Provide up to date intelligence (as a result of legislative changes), analysis, expert advice and recommendations to SMT and Key Stakeholders. Monitor changes to local and international environment policies.
Co-ordinate system and process audits to ensure compliance with environmental standards requirements. Manage the risk assessment process.
Design and implement strategies to reduce environmental incidents/breaches. Monitor trends in breaches, record, review and ensure corrective/preventative action is carried out.
Provide timely reports to the Senior Leadership Team.
Promote and coordinate awareness of environmental protection policies and strategies and other regulatory requirements and obligations within the Project.
Leadership of team including Advisor and Administrator.

What you'll bring

Australian citizen preferred for Defence site access requirements
A tertiary qualification in Environmental Science and/or Engineering coupled with experience in an environmental compliance side within a construction environment
Qualified as a Lead Auditor of Environmental Management Systems
10 + years of relevant environmental construction experience
Detailed understanding of Environmental compliance standards, legislation, Acts and Commonwealth requirements
High level communication, consultation, negotiation and influencing skills
Good presentation skills with ability to demonstrate and train others
Experience in management of environmental aspects relating to ESD, Heritage and Contamination
