About the role:
Reporting into the Chief Data Officer, the visionary Principal Data Engineer will drive technological innovation, data leadership and set the tone regarding data design principles, standards, and appropriate governance. You will be the technical go-to for all things data engineering at EnergyAustralia. Responsibilities include:
Be the go-to/ SME of technical development and uplift of the Data Engineering team Work closely with Architecture to ensure technical alignment Apply DevOps and DataOps principles utilising CI/CD workflows for accelerated development of infrastructure components and data ingestion pipelines Evaluate and develop patterns for appropriate ETL/data import and interfacing mechanisms such as consumption layer databases, APIs and caches Champion the Data Engineering guild/chapters across the organisation - including knowledge sharing, innovation, hackathon-type activities, development days and education/learning/uplift opportunities About You:
You will have years of experience working with ETL pipelines, SQL & Python coding expertise and excellent at navigating cloud environments and associated databases, leading to tangible business outcomes. Additionally, most of the following:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field Expert level coding of SQL & Python Highly competent with AWS (EC2, S3, Redshift, Glue), Databricks & platforms/tools such as: Talend Apache Airflow & Spark Kafka/Streaming technologies DevOps toolsets such as Git, Jenkins, Azure 10+ years experience designing, developing and publishing data ELT/ETL pipelines Deep experience designing, developing, running and supporting DevOps/ CI:CD You can expertly navigate working in a technical delivery team with developers, data scientists, solution/data designers and machine learning engineers Excellent communication, you can build effective relationships and can make the technical less technical for business stakeholders How to Apply:
