Southern Adelaide Local Health Network – Flinders Medical Centre – Emergency Total Indicative Remuneration Package: $254,981 - $335,587 MD2 (pro rata) | Fulltime – Short Term Contract The Emergency Department is looking for their next Emergency Physician to join their busy and rewarding team. The Flinders Medical Centre (FMC) and Noarlunga Health Service(NHS) Emergency Department (ED) is one of South Australia's largest and busiest networks in South Australia. FMC is a tertiary ED offering high quality care for a variety of presentations including major multi-trauma, paediatric, and life-threatening medical emergencies. FMC ED is also the obstetric trauma centre for South Australia and a designated state trauma centre. As an Emergency team, we focus on the wellbeing of our staff and have been awarded the ACEM Wellbeing award in 2023 - something which we are very proud of. NHS ED is a peripheral site, only 20 minutes away, which provides the job satisfaction of rural medicine within the city. We are a flexible workforce and support fractioned employment with lots of opportunities to develop individual interests non-clinically, for example Ultrasound, Medical Admin, and Disaster Planning, whilst also supporting the department.
Both Emergency Departments are situated in Southern Adelaide - an ideal location for both family and city life. A 20-minute journey from the CBD, with little traffic, makes the daily commute effortless. As the Emergency Physician, your duties may include:
Providing appropriate specialist level care to patients Working within a multi-disciplinary team across all aspects of Emergency Care - paediatrics, ambulatory, short stay medicine, resus, and acute emergency medicine. Providing clinical supervision to Senior Medical Practitioners, Trainee Medical Officers, and Medical Students Contributing to an after-hours on-call service in accordance with a roster agreed by the Department Director Overseeing the smooth functioning of the clinical area when on shift To be successful in this role, you will need: A Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent. Appropriate Specialist Qualifications. Registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration; or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award. Experience with the supervision and teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff. Extensive clinical experience relevant to work in an Emergency Department.
