Rheinmetall NIOA Munitions Pty Ltd (RNM), a joint venture between Rheinmetall Waffe Munitions and NIOA Pty Ltd operate a state of the art forging and manufacturing facility in Maryborough QLD that produces artillery shell cases and other munitions-related products for supply to defence.
What are we looking for? As the Apprentice Electrician, you will be guided by tradespersons on how to complete works as per the maintenance planning system in accordance with equipment manufacturers specifications and process requirements of our automated and semi-automated facility.
You also undertake an apprenticeship in accordance with the training contract.

Key Accountabilities Support qualified trades to carry out various work requests relating to the reliable operation of modern industrial equipment, including completion of works relative to skill, competency and ability. Requests may cover a wide variety of tasks including but not limited to installing new equipment, testing and repair of existing equipment, installing power supplies and associated hardware, cleaning filters, cleaning sensors, testing equipment and circuits, pit inspections, carry out isolations and investigate electrical faults. Record work requests in the company maintenance management system. Utilise various workshop equipment including hand and power tools in a safe manner with correct use of PPE. Learn to read wiring diagrams, drawings and technical specifications to determine equipment requirements. Learn and understand the requirements of Australian Standard AS3000 Wiring Rules and relevant regulations. Acquire knowledge and good understanding of various electrical hardware and applications. Develop ability to competently use electrical test equipment and record test results. Support work of qualified trades on electrical systems and associated industrial automation. Complete preventative maintenance tasks as required by the maintenance schedule. May be asked to rotate work, assist and support other work areas at the direction of the leader for the efficient operation of the plant. Ensures all work areas, tools and equipment are kept clean and tidy by undertaking housekeeping tasks. Open communication for sharing information to fellow team members as required ensuring efforts are aligned to achieving team goals. Collaborate with team members and leaders as required to determine and execute an agreed solution with approval. Ensure the safety of yourself and others at work in all WHSE matters and familiar with lock out / tag out systems to ensure equipment is correctly isolated before conducting work. Comply with the responsibilities relating to the terms of the training contract as an apprentice. Completion of the apprenticeship whilst working in a full-time capacity. Undertake all allocated work and tasks as part of on the job and off the job training in accordance with the traineeship contract and program. Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience Undertake electrical trade qualification. Relevant pre-trade study an advantage, including knowledge of AS3000. Previous hands-on experience with power tools, hand tools and workshop equipment an advantage. Trade assistant experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment. Experience applying lean manufacturing principles or interest to acquire. Experience in WHSE tools and processes including but not exhaustive of isolation, hazard identification, risk assessment & high risk work relative to role WHS licence and certifications high risk work licence which may include low voltage rescue, work at heights, first aid or ability to acquire and maintain Drivers licence Computer skills - average Language skills – English – verbal and written Skills & Competencies QuantityQualityProblem SolvingTeamworkDependabilityAdaptabilitySafety and SecurityPersonal Attributes High ethical standards and integrity in professional and personal dealings.
