The Role
Are you looking for a rewarding career that makes a difference? Do you have a passion for leadership, problem solving and synthesising information to deliver an outcome? If so, you may be the perfect fit for a role in the Defence Intelligence Organisation (DIO). As either an Intelligence Assessment Director, or Technical Intelligence Assessment Director, you are responsible for leading teams of analysts to undertake all-source assessments on wide-ranging issues critical to Australia's national interests, while developing teams to deliver impactful results.
You will collaborate with a broad network of stakeholders, foster relationships across Defence, broader Government, and with international partners, ensuring DIO's assessments directly inform decisions on Australia's strategic circumstances. You will have access to unique and highly desirable training and professional development opportunities. A merit pool of highly suitable candidates will be established to fill EL2 vacancies in DIO within the next 18 months.
This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. For further information, please contact the contact officer.
About our Team
DIO is an exciting workplace that supports the Chief of Defence Intelligence, senior Defence decision-makers, the Minister for Defence and government and military customers to better understand military, technical, political, social and cultural developments, and the implications for Australia's national security and the Australian Defence Force. DIO is an inclusive workplace where we trust, respect and invest in our people, working together to achieve outcomes that advance the national interest.
We are an organisation of dedicated professionals with a strong sense of purpose. We embrace a culture that supports staff wellbeing, and champions individuals to brief the highest levels of government, highlighting their knowledge and expertise. We also believe a diverse workplace that celebrates our differences makes us stronger and better leaders and intelligence professionals, who question and contest ideas to deliver robust, considered outcomes.
Don't miss this chance to join our dynamic and dedicated team of intelligence professionals!
Our Ideal Candidate
These positions suit experienced, self-motivated, intellectually curious individuals with initiative, strong judgement, and a commitment to advancing Australia's national security interests. You will leverage your expert leadership skills, broad knowledge and professional networks to demonstrate your ability to anticipate and support the needs of DIO's customers, and you will be skilled at operating effectively within high-pressure environments.
DIO's people are our most valuable resource. You must have a demonstrated ability to lead, develop and mentor intelligence analysts, while exercising judgement and strong public service skills. You will have integrity, and place high value on collaborative and innovative approaches to achieving results.
Your advanced analytic and communication skills will enable you to lead teams to deliver timely, relevant and insightful intelligence assessments informing real-world strategic decision making. You also will be highly aware of DIO's place in government and its primary goals, anticipating opportunities and proposing strategies to address them.
