Currently, there are around 4.3 million Australians with a disability.
The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare.
As an Agency, we support more than 600,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability.
For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need.
The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.
A new role awaitsWe have two incredible opportunities for highly skilled Executives to join our branches within Specialised Service Delivery Division as an EL2 Director Liaison.
The Specialised Service Delivery (SSD) Division includes the Aged Care and Hospital Interface, Complex Support Needs, National Early Childhood, and Scheme Eligibility Branches.
The EL2 Director Liaison is an important team leadership position within the NDIA and will have delegated authority and responsibility to resolve issues and risks across wide-ranging activities of substantial depth involving significant detail.
The role is required to provide leadership, control, planning, resource management, performance management and decision making for the team membership and assigned Contractors working within the work area.
Where you can add valueThe EL2 Director Liaison works with a high degree of autonomy and professionalism, with a focus on providing detailed technical, professional, policy, operational support, and advice in relation to complex problems.
Main elements of these roles include:
Liaising with the wider sector through portfolio management (including other government and community services) regarding individual participants and wider disability related issues.Leading and supporting Justice Liaison Officer or Hospital Interface Liaison Officers to consider solutions to drive participant outcomes, consistent quality reasonable and necessary decisions and effectively manage complex situations associated with approval of funding within the NDIS Act and Rules.Exercising higher level delegations in respect to the NDIS Act and Rules including reasonable and necessary supports taking into account factors including scheme sustainability and liability.Demonstrating strong understanding of the disability, justice and/or hospital sector including approaches that underpin progressive and contemporary disability service provision (e.g.
community connection, inclusion, positive behaviour support etc.
).In the Hospital Interface Director role, you will be investigating the barriers and enablers to effective and timely hospital discharge practices for NDIS participants.
In the Justice Liaison Director role, you will be engaging with stakeholders across many justice interfaces and working alongside people with disability who intersect with the justice system.
Our aim is to ensure people with disability have the disability supports they require whilst in custody, and to support successful transition to the community.

We intend to fill this role in an ongoing capacity, however non-ongoing roles up to 12 months with the possibility of extension up to 2 years may be offered.
Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
