Details of the offer

EL2 Director, Intelligence - Multiple Roles
Join AUSTRAC, where you'll harness unique partnerships, apply advanced skills and financial intelligence to discover and disrupt illicit activities that threaten our nation's financial security. Our work directly impacts our nation's financial security, and your contributions will play a critical role in safeguarding the financial integrity of Australia. We're searching for dedicated and visionary leaders to fill three critical roles in the
Director
position within our Intelligence Division. You'll work at the heart of Australia's intelligence community, leading teams of experts and contributing to national and international security efforts. You'll have the opportunity to enhance and evolve intelligence capabilities that directly impact Australia's financial system.
If you embrace challenges diligently, are passionate about leading teams in a collaborative environment, and are eager to make a meaningful impact, we invite you to explore these exciting opportunities.
Director, Governance Training & Tradecraft
As the Director, Governance Training & Tradecraft, you will play a pivotal role in driving innovation and continuous improvement, to ensure AUSTRAC's intelligence capabilities remain resilient and future ready. You will steer the development and implementation of intelligence tradecraft and training, ensuring that our teams are highly equipped with the skills and knowledge to combat financial crime effectively. You will also manage divisional policies and governance standards, ensuring our operations meet the highest standards for oversight by the Inspector-General of Intelligence and Security (IGIS).
Director, Intelligence Products & Coordination
As the Director, Intelligence Products & Coordination, you will lead two critical work streams within AUSTRAC's Intelligence Division: Requests and Disclosures and Production Reporting. Your team will be responsible for managing the flow of incoming intelligence requests and outgoing intelligence products, ensuring that AUSTRAC's intelligence outputs are of exceptional quality. You will collaborate with both domestic and international partners, fostering strong relationships that drive excellence and innovation across our intelligence products.
Director, Taskforces
As the Director, Taskforces, you will lead AUSTRAC's efforts to disrupt criminal enterprises through financial intelligence. In this role, you will lead a directorate that collaborates closely with a broad range of national and international stakeholders, to expand the financial intelligence picture and disrupt criminal enterprises domestically and globally. You'll be steering AUSTRAC's efforts to combat Serious Organised Crime Coordination Committee (SOCCC) designated priorities.
You'll be leading high-performing teams where your insights will shape, influence and inform the strategic direction of the Intelligence Division. You'll work side by side with passionate, like-minded colleagues who share your drive in safeguarding Australia from financial crime. You'll challenge our thinking, engage in lively discussions, brainstorming sessions and have the opportunity to connect with colleagues who are world-leading experts in their fields.
While each Director will focus on different areas depending on their section, the Director, Intelligence encompasses a range of key duties including:
Leadership & Team Management:
Lead, mentor, and inspire diverse teams across various states and territories, ensuring optimal performance in line with AUSTRAC's strategic priorities. Manage team operations in taskforces, financial intelligence tradecraft, and intelligence production.

Drive the operational capacity and capability of AUSTRAC's intelligence functions, including taskforces, tradecraft development, and intelligence dissemination. Ensure alignment with AUSTRAC's Corporate Plan, AUSTRAC's Intelligence Strategic priorities and governance requirements.
International & Domestic Intelligence Coordination:
Lead and manage international exchanges and domestic intelligence requests, ensuring timely and responsive intelligence outputs.

Oversee the production and continuous improvement of AUSTRAC's intelligence product suite. Manage customer engagement, performance evaluation, and reporting processes to deliver high-quality intelligence outputs.
Representation & Advocacy:
Represent AUSTRAC in national and international forums, inter-agency meetings, and media interactions, promoting the agency's role in combatting serious and organised crime.
Financial & Governance Management:
Maintain financial management and governance within the business unit, ensuring compliance with agency and government requirements.
Advisory & Strategic Contributions:
Provide timely advice to senior executives, Ministers, and key stakeholders, and contribute to broader AUSTRAC initiatives where needed. Lead strategic development and establishing of standards, processes and procedures to ensure the continual evolution of financial intelligence analytical tradecraft.
To be eligible for this role you:
Must be an Australian citizen at the time you apply.
Will need to undertake AUSTRAC's pre-engagement checks.
Will need to obtain and maintain an ongoing, minimum Negative Vetting 1 security clearance, with the ability to obtain and maintain an ongoing Negative Vetting 2 and/or Positive Vetting security clearance in future.
