The Senior Designer provides high-level user research and system design assistance to projects within the courts' Digital Court Program (DCP).
The role involves working closely with the Design Lead and a multidisciplinary project team to provide authoritative advice and guidance to progress a significant system implementation and collaborating with a range of stakeholders to ensure that solutions are appropriate and fit-for-purpose.
Building and leveraging a deep understanding of court processes and requirements, the role is critical to Program goals of ensuring that solutions meet a range of strategic objectives.
The successful candidate will work to ensure that solution design maximises the opportunity to implement sound, relevant and supportable systems.
Duties Working across one or more multi-disciplinary project team(s) within an agreed framework, undertake high-quality design of systems and services related to the DCP, ensuring that a range of technical considerations are properly considered and articulated in well-formed requirements.Harness resources and ideas from across the organisation to ensure that solutions are fit-for-purpose, consistent with strategic objectives and make use of available technology.Liaise and negotiate with internal stakeholders, including core business groups, technical teams and suppliers in the design of appropriate solutions.Research, prepare and make recommendations on issues related to the design and delivery of quality software solutions.Assist in the design and execution of the testing and review of software systems, to ensure they are robust, supportable and fit-for-purpose.Selection Criteria Demonstrated ability to conceptualise, influence and articulate technical design work to a high standard.Understand and manage conflicting priorities, constraints and demands, and realise program expectations across a diverse range of stakeholders.Highly developed problem solving and industry-standard software design skills, including an understanding of the Digital Transformation Agency's Digital Service Standard.Demonstrated ability to marshal expertise and personal industry knowledge to analyse, recommend and implement appropriate technical solutions across a range of systems.The IT Division is geographically dispersed and experience in working in such teams is essential.Eligibility
Employment with the Court is subject to the conditions prescribed in the Public Service Act 1999, and the following:

Australian citizenship – the successful applicant must hold Australian citizenship.Security and character clearance – the successful applicant must satisfy a Police Records Check and may also be required to complete security clearances during the course of their employment.Successful applicants engaged into the APS will be subject to a probation period.Interested candidates who have received a redundancy benefit from an APS agency are welcome to apply, but note that they cannot be engaged until their redundancy benefit period has expired.
