$115,899 - $130,733 + up to 15.4% Superannuation Edinburgh - SA The Role The Digital System Specialist will, under limited guidance, undertake applied research, scientific experimentation and engineering activities with FPGA and associated electronics technologies to support the vulnerability assessment of complex digital systems.
Will lead and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team undertaking the analysis and evaluation of exemplar/prototype digital systems electronics, algorithms, and software.
Collaborate with partners in academia, industry, and other international government research labs to progress the state-of-the-art.
Work with Applied Specialists and Discipline Leaders to ensure R&D capabilities/activities are aligned with Defence IS&T priorities.
Key requirements: Work with broad direction and be accountable to plan, lead and manage complex electronic, microelectronic, FPGA, and or software system design, evaluation, and assessment activities.
Fundamental knowledge and experience in one or more of the following fields: Electronics design / electronic design automation (EDA) tools/ test and verification FPGA and/or microelectronics system design Prototype development and failure analysis About our Team Sensors and Effectors leads the impetus for innovation within Australian force operations by providing science and technology advice about equipment, personnel, and processes.
One of the key roles of the Science and Technology Capability (STC), Vulnerability Assessment and Protection (VAP) Group, is to undertake research and development in Scientific and Technical Intelligence (STI) technologies and techniques to understand current and future threats and protect Australian interests.

Provide leadership and execute duties necessary to maintain a safe and effective S&T test and evaluation laboratory, including learning and complying with procedures, legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks.
Report on the progress and outcomes of technical activities through high quality reports, briefs and presentations to senior Defence, Industry, and other Government personnel.
Highly Desirable: Experience in the use and modification of scientific equipment to extend capabilities, prototype development, knowledge of electronics failure analysis tools and techniques, assured hardware design.
Experience in novel techniques that require an understanding of the fundamentals across a range of physical fields including micro-electronics, analytical, test and evaluation.
Experience in critical analysis of FPGA code including test-benching, functional validation, and verification by utilizing experimental R&D tools.
Understanding of Verilog and VHDL, and processes with test benching designs.
