The position of National Logistics and Remote Hearings Coordinator is responsible for the management of risk and logistical aspects of Court proceedings conducted outside of Court registries.
Major Activities
• Provide national support to Judges, Registrars and other staff in the conduct of proceedings outside of Court registries.
• Develop and maintain national policy and procedure that take full account of risk management, and occupational health and safety issues.
• Liaise with IT, Finance, HR, Procurement and any other relevant internal areas of the Court regarding facilities, technology and other requirements for remote travel.
• Coordinate training for relevant officers, including remote first aid and 4WD training and maintain registers documenting the currency of such training.
• Support native title staff in State Registries to prepare travel planning and budgetary documents or fulfil those functions personally as required.
• Attend remote proceedings to provide logistical and on-ground support.
• Facilitate the acquisition and maintenance of all equipment necessary for the conduct of Native Title matters outside of Court registries.
• Operate recording devices for short hearings conducted outside of Court registries.
• Provide case management support to Registrars as required.
• Other duties as required.
The successful candidate will demonstrate high level administrative and project management skills with an ability to meet deadlines, attention to detail and to work with limited supervision. The role requires initiative, the ability to work under pressure and trouble-shoot.
The role also requires good judgement, an ability to respond decisively and instil confidence in others. High level written and oral communication skills, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with small teams to manage events is essential.
Qualifications Previous experience and demonstrated competency organising complex logistical arrangements in remote and/or regional Australia required.
Experience with, and knowledge of, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history and social context highly regarded.
