$115,899 - $130,733 + 15% BDCP + up to 15.4% Superannuation Edinburgh - SA The Role The Electromagnetic Warfare and Intelligence Systems Maritime Program Office (EWIS-M SPO) is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Systems Engineer with an experience leading a team to achieve complex technical and engineering outcomes.
The role is located in Adelaide with the occasional domestic travel requirement.
As an Engineering Professional in EWIS-M SPO, you will lead a program of acquisition and sustainment activities that are not only complex systems, but are critical to equip the Australian Navy to meet their operational challenges in to the future.
The right person for this role will show the flexibility to respond to the changing context and shifting priorities of the Defence environment and the agility to realign resourcing to meet new demands.
You will be a leader who provides support and guidance to your team to ensure they are sensitive to Defence strategic direction and equipped to excel in their capabilities.
We are looking for a collaborator who will be able to understand the needs of our stakeholders and produce outcomes and results according to their requirements.
You will have exceptional stakeholder engagement, excellent verbal and written communication and negotiation skills, and a proven history of exercising assigned engineering authorities and relevant Material Governance Authority delegations.
You will be relied upon to utilise specialist professional knowledge to assess risks associated with developmental and advanced technologies, including recommendations to mitigate technology development risk in a complex environment.
This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP).
This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability.

About our Team EWIS-Maritime SPO currently manages a number of electronic warfare systems fitted to both the surface and sub-surface fleet, such as the Nulka Decoy product and various Sensors and Electronic Attack products in both acquisition and sustainment phases.
The EWIS-Maritime SPO delivers these capabilities to both the Australian Defence Force and United States Navy.
This role will be part of a team which is working to deliver integrated electronic warfare systems to Navy under a continuous capability development and delivery framework.
The successful applicant will participate in an integrated team, including APS, military and contractor staff, to ensure the supported Electronic Warfare capabilities are delivered to the ADF and supported in accordance with operational and compliance requirements, budget, and service agreements.

Our Ideal Candidate EWIS Maritime SPO is seeking an Engineering Manager who is able to demonstrate initiative and the ability to apply established engineering principles, techniques and methods to solve problems relating to the acquisition, sustainment, design, development, integration and evaluation of EWIS Maritime Capabilities.
Key attributes and experience we are looking for: Substantial track record of successful management of engineering projects in the electromagnetic warfare domain using appropriate engineering practices.
Ability to manage complex system installations, integration and technical regulatory requirements.
Demonstrated focus on timely resolution of issues.
A thorough understanding of engineering disciplines.
Demonstrated experience managing diverse teams in a complex environment.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with ability to negotiate and build relationships with stakeholders.
Sound commercial and business acumen.
High-level organisational skills, self-drive and initiative with the ability to influence others to achieve tasks and business objectives.
A Positive Vetting (PV) security clearance is required, however the right candidate may be able to commence on a Negative Vetting 2 clearance subject to obtaining and maintaining a PV clearance.
