face2face reference: 623973 Location: Canberra, ACT Hours: full-time Contract length: 6 months non ongoing Entry requirements: Baseline Clearance Pay range: $118,000.00 - 134,000.00 yearly ex super About the role: This role requires having an understanding of the federal budget process, familiarity with budget documents, understanding of government processes, including senate estimates, regular briefing processes, leading a team, the ability to pick up complex concepts quickly and engage with experts.
Duties: Meaningfully contribute to developing policy for the design, implementation and use of a departmental digital platform.
Cultivate productive relationships to support engagement with a diverse range of stakeholders across Commonwealth entities and state and territory governments, private industry, and international counterparts.
Lead delivery of briefing, Senate Estimates, international briefing, treaty processes and QTBs.
Contribute and lead aspects of the platforms budget package, including reviewing the first pass business case, leading costings and discussions with central agencies.
Lead procurement processes, oversee staff responsible for invoicing, tracking milestones reporting and support contract management.
Contribute to a cross government legislative review, leading engagement across multiple policy and legal teams to support drafting of new legislation.
Required Skills: Flexibility to work across multiple streams of work and work collaboratively with team members.
Sound decision-making and ability to apply good judgment in a complex policy environment.
Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills to identify solutions.
The patience and agility to manage urgent and changing priorities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to confidently present messaging concisely, tailored to audiences.
Ability to get across new subject matter quickly to provide strategic advice to the Executive.
Collaborative approach, working well in teams and with limited direction.
Strong attention to detail, considering the ramifications of issues and longer-term impact of own work on the objectives of the Department and broader Government priorities.
Strong computer skills including MS Office Suite and MS SharePoint.
Previous experience with the federal budget processes is beneficial but not essential.
Previous experience developing strategic advice to support positive policy outcomes.
