About the role:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Ecologist to join our dynamic and experienced team based in either our Coffs Harbour office or our Armidale office.
The Ecologist role is diverse and engaging, offering challenges across a range of responsibilities.
The work will include field investigations across various terrestrial ecosystems, involvement in development applications, preparation of REFs, EISs, BARs and BDARs, and various management and monitoring plans, with the level of responsibility tailored to your experience.

Essential skills and experience:
Undergraduate Bachelor of Science/ Environmental Science/ Applied Science/ Natural Resource Management or equivalent in related discipline, with high levels of academic achievement.
Maintain a current Class C Driver's License.
Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in environmental/ ecological consulting.
Experience in local or state government preparing or assessing similar duties will also be considered on merit.
Proven ability to write clear, concise, and scientifically accurate reports (e.g., BARs, BSSARs, BDARs, REFs, EISs, SISs, VMPs, offset strategies, species-specific management plans, weed management plans, nest box management plans) with support and oversight.
Familiarity with ecological field surveys and statutory assessments for flora and fauna, with mentorship and guidance.
Sound understanding of interpreting and applying relevant environmental legislation (NSW and Commonwealth).
A level of GIS skills, including the ability to interrogate data and prepare ecological attribute maps.
Skilled in fauna and botanical identification, vegetation mapping, and plant community types, with a commitment to continual improvement.
Have self-motivation and initiative with the ability to manage responsibilities and perform tasks with guidance and supervision, as well as autonomy.
Willingness to work towards or obtain accreditation as an assessor under the NSW Biodiversity Assessment Method.
Thorough understanding of WH&S requirements and obligations for all levels of responsibility.
Additional desirable experience:
Experience working with the resource industries, and/ or linear infrastructure on major projects at the planning and/ or implementation stage.
High level and depth of experience in threatened species management from preparing large scale management strategies to devising and implementing monitoring plans.
Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field.
Membership of a relevant and accredited professional association.
