Do you want your work to make a difference for NSW?Working to protect the state's environment and heritage.Permanent ongoing opportunityFull-time role - 35 hours per week + FlexTimeAny NSW office location - regional location encouraged/hybrid working supportedSalary ranges from $120,859.00 to $133,183.00 + super + leave loadingWe are currently seeking to appoint a Senior Water Planner in an ongoing full-time capacity, in the Floodplain Management team within the Water Planning branch at DCCEEW.We are currently replacing floodplain management plans in the southern Murray-Darling Basin.
We would love to have someone keen on getting their teeth into leading a floodplain management plan to join us.
You will have the support of your floodplain planning teammates and our wider technical team as you work to contribute to the protection of floodplain health across NSW.About YouOur successful candidate will coordinate a range of complex analytic and research activities and projects to provide sound and reliable input to the delivery of the NSW Government's floodplain management planning process, consistent with the State's and Commonwealth's water reform agenda and relevant legislation.In this role you will:Provide informed advice and technical servicesAnalyse priority issues, initiate research and consultation activitiesDevelop and implement strategies for community consultation/communication to support engagement activitiesLead and manage projects to address policy or planning issuesPrepare advice in the form of briefs, policy and discussion papers on key floodplain management issues to respond to Ministerial, Cabinet or Departmental requestsPrepare a range of communication materials and consultation activities to support the water planning and management processDesirable knowledge and experienceExtensive experience in water related areas such as floodplain management, water planning, natural resource management, environmental science, aquatic ecology, geomorphology, civil/environmental engineering and hydrology.Understanding of the State and Commonwealth Government's water reform agendas, and legislative and policy requirements regarding floodplain planning.To ApplyIf excited by the information above, we look forward to receiving your application, including a copy of your resume and cover letter expressing your interest and suitability for the role.Applications close Thursday, 31 October at 11:55PM.A recruitment pool may be created for ongoing and temporary opportunities of the same role or role type that may become available over the next 18 months.Our goal is to build a workforce that not only represents but also understands and serves the diverse communities of New South Wales.
