ERM is currently seeking Ecologists of various experience levels to join our Newcastle or Sydney office to support our Capital Project Delivery group. As a member of the team, you will act as an ecologist based in Newcastle (preferred) or Sydney, with capacity to conduct work in various jurisdictions across the country. This position will focus on biodiversity impact assessment and approvals, and will include ecological impact assessments under New South Wales State and Commonwealth jurisdictions. The role will involve working with other ecologists and project managers across Australia in the renewables, resources, planning, government and natural capital accounting sectors. The applicant will have experience with environmental assessments, and must show an interest in applying knowledge and skills to help our clients solve challenges in these sectors. The successful candidate will be a member of a multidisciplinary impact assessment team in Australia and will become a member of an extensive team of global environmental and social experts. RESPONSIBILITIES: Support preparation of ecological impact assessments and associated management plans in compliance with applicable federal and state requirements Perform project delivery activities including but not limited to field surveys, literature reviews, report writing, and developing recommendations for clients. Work on multiple projects within scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables and timely delivery of reports. Communicate with subcontractors, regulatory agents, land owners, Indigenous communities, and clients during field activities, as required. Build strong collaborative relationships with other ERM employees worldwide. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors degree in Ecology, or related field; 2 to 10 years of environmental consulting experience; Accreditation under the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016 , favourably viewed; Strong skills in flora and plant community type identification viewed favourably; Basic GIS capability with advanced level viewed favourably; Experience with Federal and State regulations and guidelines pertaining to survey methodologies and environmental assessments; Experience with biodiversity offsets in NSW and Australia; Strong commitment to safety, including following established health and safety protocols; Ability to follow directions and take initiative when required; Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills; Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a demanding work environment; and Valid driver's license and good driving record.
