Downer Rail, a leading name in the manufacturing and maintenance of rolling stock across Australia, has exciting opportunities for a Methods Configuration & Documentation Lead to join our team in Maryborough QLD - Full time permanent position.
The Methods Configuration & Documentation Lead will play a key role in providing technical and operational support to the Methods and Operations teams. This includes focusing on the creation of efficient build processes (eBOM to pBOM) and configuration control (implementing Engineering Changes). The role also involves the establishment and management of standardised methods instructions, production support documents, and processes, as well as overseeing production check sheets through RDrive.
In this role you will have the following responsibilities: Implement the manufacturing strategy in collaboration with engineering and project management, focusing on the design-build workflow and contributing to make-buy decisions. Support in planning the site and workshop layout to ensure all manufacturing facilities are available for the site's current and future needs. Control the development of existing and new processes (e.g.: welding, bonding, electrical, painting, and GRP). Responsible for resolving production issues related to the design. Prepare specifications for tooling and equipment requirements, evaluate production tooling requests, and oversee the design, procurement, and commissioning activities associated with them. Lead the design producibility review meeting with Engineering. About you: 2 years + experience in rolling stock production methodology and/or design. Electrical and/or Mechanical Trade or Tertiary qualifications. Relevant experience in working with design and technical documentation is required, with a preference for knowledge in the design of jigs and fixtures. The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings is essential. Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment, preferably within railway vehicle engineering. We offer:
