Dnv Germany Holding Gmbh | Civil Engineer

Details of the offer

In the Project Engineering & Due Diligence team, we help our Customers to develop, approve, finance, build, and operate renewable energy projects by using our technical skills to undertake technical due diligence reviews, perform independent engineering and owner's engineering services, perform structural health monitoring, undertake apparent/root cause analysis, and much more!
We're a team of engineers with a knack for understanding the real-world implications of our technical reviews and communicating this to a wide range of stakeholders. Along with our DNV colleagues and counterparts from all over the world, we work on projects across the Asia Pacific (APAC) region.
What we are looking for We're busy, and so we're looking for a civil engineer to join us in a Engineer to Senior Engineer level role. We're open to part-time or full-time.
If your answer to these questions is "yes", then we'd love to chat!
Are you passionate about renewable energy and playing a role in the energy transition? Do you love to delve into complex problems and use your excellent technical skills to work out practical, robust, high-quality solutions? Are you great at building insight and understanding of a project from careful review of design documentation and contract requirements? Are you logical, creative, and organised, and able to get things done efficiently and effectively? Are you always looking for new and better ways of tackling technical challenges? Do you enjoy being able to clearly and concisely communicate the outcomes from your work to those who need it most? Are you ready to be part of an experienced, caring, friendly team who want to work cooperatively with you to realise great outcomes? About the role Here are some of the things our civil / structural engineering team does. It would be great if you already have experience with some of these tasks, but if not, we are happy to help you develop your skill set.
Reviews of civil / structural engineering aspects (such as infrastructure and drainage of onshore solar and onshore wind projects) to identify risks, engineering design issues, and contractual non-compliances. Review of construction quality control documentation to assess compliance with the design requirements. Undertake site visits to construction stage and operational renewable energy sites. Develop and implement structural health monitoring solutions and analyse the data to understand whether the structures are performing as expected. Work with DNV counterparts across the world to ensure we're abreast of global issues related to civil aspects of renewable energy projects. Work with DNV colleagues from other disciplines to ensure that we're considering the interdisciplinary aspects of identified technical risks. In particular for this role, we are looking for someone with experience in (at least some of) the following areas:
At least 3 years experience working as a civil engineer (with background in hydrology, drainage design, and/or roads). Experience with on-site inspections, monitoring, or management of construction projects. Experience with the design of civil aspects of large construction projects. Experience with utility scale renewable energy or energy storage projects. As well as the technical elements of our work, we are continually interacting with various customers and stakeholders, including developers, investors, financiers, planning authorities, and others. Some of the other important non-technical parts of our work include:
Engaging with customers to establish how our capabilities can help answer their questions. Preparing proposals including scope, scheduling, and budgeting. Executing projects successfully through careful project management. Preparing effective, high-quality technical reports and presentations. Delivering insightful presentations to customers or other industry stakeholders. Explaining and discussing important results and outcomes from our work with Customers or other stakeholders. Education Bachelor's degree (or higher) in civil engineering (ideally specialising in civil engineering with modules in hydrology, fluid dynamics, drainage design, and/or pavement/road design). Knowledge, skills, and experience required for the position are: Excellent technical skills. Strong organisational skills. Strong data analysis skills. Excellent oral and written English communication skills. Ability to work effectively with colleagues in a team environment. Flexibility, adaptability, and creativity. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel. Physical abilities: Normal office environment, involving regular sitting, bending, twisting, standing, and reaching. Some domestic and international travel to other company office locations, site locations, client offices, and conferences. Occasional work outdoors including site visits may be required, involving walking, sitting, bending, twisting, standing, and reaching. What is preferred Experience in, or familiarity with, any of the following would be great, but is not essential:
Project management skills and experience. Proficiency in one or more high-level programming languages (e.g., Python, Matlab, VBA). Experience building tools or software for solving technical or engineering problems. Experience with finite element analysis. Experience with building and maintaining professional relationships with Customers. Experience in developing proposals for work, including budgets, appropriate contractual terms, and undertaking negotiations on scope and price with Customers. Located in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Newcastle, or Perth. #J-18808-Ljbffr
