About the role TAFE Gippsland is in search of a proactive, motivated, and dedicated individual to fill the enriching position of Disability & Access Advisor. In this role, you will serve as the main point of contact for enrolled and prospective students who identify as having a disability. Your responsibilities will include fostering connections and offering comprehensive support, guidance, and aid to students to ensure they receive the necessary assistance, either internally or externally. Along with providing support, you will establish and nurture relationships with both internal and external service providers, aiding students in acquiring essential life and study skills. This involves advocating for students, delivering crucial information, offering strength-based coaching, implementing reasonable adjustments, and facilitating referrals.
A six-month probation period applies to this position. Some travel across campuses is a requirement of the role.
Your Experience and Qualifications A tertiary or further education qualification in a disability or community related discipline Experience in the provision of support services to people with a disability, preferably in an education setting Demonstrated commitment and experience in person-centred practice Familiarity with best practice models for disability support within an educational context (e.g. planning, case management, information provision, strengths-based coaching, reasonable adjustments, mental health first aid, mediation, conflict resolution, and supported referral) Underpinning knowledge of the NDIS and other supports available to people with a disability All TAFE Gippsland staff require a current Driver's Licence, employee Working with Children Clearance, satisfactory National Police Check, and Current Covid-19 Vaccination Certificate (2 doses).
