About the Role
This is a five year fixed-term SES 1 role.The Director, Spatial Product Management is a senior leadership role within the Data and Digital Division, reporting directly to the Executive Director, Spatial Services & Planning Solutions.
In this role, you will lead a diverse team of data, digital, and spatial experts to advance and enhance the spatial product portfolio.
This portfolio supports the Spatial Services & Planning Solutions team and includes key products such as the Digital Twin Victoria program, Govmap (a restricted web portal of government land holdings), Vic3D (a public-facing 3D viewer for spatial analysis and visualization), VicPlan, and Vicmap data products.Your primary focus will be on product management, driving strategy, identifying key use cases, understanding customer needs, and maximizing value across the portfolio.
You'll ensure that products are cost-effective and continue to meet customer expectations while developing services within a matrix structure in collaboration with the broader Data and Digital team.As Director, you will work closely with senior leaders to align spatial products with broader organisational goals and priorities.
You'll also champion continuous improvement of systems and processes, ensuring alignment with policy, stakeholder engagement, and strong implementation of business controls across finance, risk management, data and digital governance, and procurement.Position OutcomesYou'll ensure Spatial products are developed with a strong focus on stakeholder needs, ensuring they are well-understood and incorporated into product management strategies.
Stakeholders are fully informed about the available products, actively use them, and provide valuable feedback to enhance the portfolio.
Develop an approved product management strategy that guides the development of these products, with clear documentation that is easily understood and endorsed through appropriate governance channels.
The product portfolio is streamlined, with the lifecycle of each product actively managed, and investment decisions are supported by well-structured business cases.Service delivery is maintained sustainably through regular reviews of the operating model, ensuring financial, commercial, people, and technological aspects remain aligned and efficient.
Corrective actions are taken when necessary to ensure ongoing success.
