What we do
We regulate providers that deliver VET qualifications and courses to students in Australia or offer Australian qualifications internationally, and providers that deliver VET courses to overseas students. We also accredit VET courses to ensure nationally approved standards are met.

We ensure quality VET so that students, industry, governments, and the community have confidence in the integrity of national qualifications issued by training providers, and that students are protected from practices that may hinder their ability to gain required competencies.
About the Opportunity
We are seeking to fill the Director, Risk, Assurance and Evaluation position to lead a small team responsible for ensuring the Executive Committee and line area delegates have the necessary information, support, and assurance required to efficiently and effectively meet ASQA's risk, assurance, and compliance obligations, apply ASQA's resources to achieve its purpose, and demonstrate continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities include: Leading, coordinating, and delivering work for highly complex, technical and/or sensitive projects or work programs that have strategic, political, and/or operational significance to the agency.Researching, analyzing, and providing high-level advice to senior management and a wide range of stakeholders.Initiating, establishing, and maintaining strong strategic relationships with key stakeholders to negotiate and/or achieve business outcomes.Creating and maintaining collegiate partnerships with senior managers and support teams to enhance the understanding of risk management and assurance, performance, planning, and reporting.Timely monitoring and reporting on the performance of the Reporting, Assurance and Evaluation Team.Skills and experience
To succeed in this role, you will have:
Experience in the Australian Public Service (APS) approach to business planning, monitoring, reporting, risk, and assurance, or the ability to quickly acquire that understanding.Demonstrated ability to lead diverse and nationally dispersed, high-performing teams, allocating and reviewing output and performance, including a commitment to building staff capability and applying resources effectively and efficiently.Demonstrated ability to apply strategic approaches and sound judgment to achieve goals, identify emerging risks and issues, consider implications, and develop and recommend appropriate responses or solutions.Demonstrated ability to apply critical and analytical thinking to information from a wide variety of sources, applying judgment and making well-reasoned and timely decisions.Proven ability to communicate effectively to develop and foster productive working relationships with all stakeholders, building trusted relationships and partnerships, including a high-level ability to influence, obtain timely information, and drive continuous improvement.Demonstrated ability to identify and integrate strategic input on a range of initiatives and matters, providing high-quality strategic advice and reports to senior executives.Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, modeling the APS Values and APS Employment Principles, and ensuring compliance with the APS Code of Conduct.Desirable:
Experience in one or more of risk management, assurance, business planning, or performance monitoring and evaluation.
