Director Risk and Safety The Opportunity: The Director of Risk & Safety has an essential role in developing the strategic response to risk, ensuring effective insurance, and establishing a critical incident response framework.
This position is responsible for raising the risk management profile and maturity across Newcastle Anglican and ensuring the organisation is ready for critical events and maximising awareness and uptake of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework.

Supporting the Executive Director of Quality, Safety and Risk, you'll promote risk-based considerations with risk appetite statement, risk management and business cases through ELT, the NAC Board and, where appropriate, the Diocesan Council.
Provide high level advice for the organisational approach to strategy in relation to ensure risk practices are contemporary and respond to changes in external impacts.
Identify and assess emerging risks and recommend approaches to managing these risks.
Assist the Executive Director in improving risk maturity with a focus on risk management and continuous improvement of the Risk Management Framework.
Have oversight of project management and deliverables for risk and safety.
Ensure strong working relationships with our insurance broker and insurers for insurance placement and submission of claims.
Ensure effective delivery of the WHS management system.
About you?
Proven experience as a risk, safety and insurance leader in promoting and implementing a risk, safety and insurance function.
Extensive experience in risk management frameworks including the development and operation of risk registers, risk assessments, risk appetite statements and risk reporting.
Extensive knowledge and understanding of the WHS legislation, its application and managing those requirements.
Capacity to provide leadership in a complex environment.
Strong negotiation skills demonstrating high levels of commerciality and pragmatism.
Tertiary qualifications in risk management or a related discipline or demonstrated experience in that field.
A current Working with Children check (with clearance to work with children) & NDIS Check.
National Police Check (Newcastle Anglican will consider the relevance of any reported outcomes) Who we are?
