We have an exciting opportunity at Newcastle Anglican for a Director Risk and Compliance. This pivotal role will be instrumental in developing and executing the strategic approach to risk management across our diverse and complex organisation.
We are seeking an experienced risk and compliance leader, ideally with experience in aged care, disability services, not for profit or social services sectors, who thrives on taking ownership of processes and driving meaningful change. Our new Director Risk and Compliance will be adept at bringing key stakeholders together, including those with differing perspectives, to achieve impactful outcomes.
This is a Permanent Full Time vacancy.

Work for a purpose-driven organisation where you can access opportunities for growth and advancement across all of our servicesGenerous salary packaging benefits of up to $15,900 paUp to 40% discount on school enrolment fees at any of our Newcastle Anglican schoolsDiscounted private health insurance through MedibankA unique culture promoting diversity, cultural competence and shared valuesAccess to over 300+ gyms with the Fitness Passport ProgramFree annual flu vaccinationsFree access to our corporate Employee Assistance Program14 weeks paid parental leave or 3 weeks paid partner leave.Flexible working arrangements – Talk to us about your needs!Role & Responsibilities: Lead and implement an all-agency, strategic approach to risk management across Newcastle Anglican, enhancing overall risk maturity and managing the Risk Management framework.Foster a strong risk culture by promoting risk considerations within strategic decisions, including business cases, risk appetite statements, and relevant discussions at a leadership level.Identify and assess emerging risks, develop mitigation strategies, and oversee the implementation of effective risk management plans for operational and strategic areas.Provide regular risk management reporting to the Board, Senior Leadership, and Audit and Risk Committee, ensuring alignment with governance structures.Lead the development and review of organisational policies to ensure alignment with legislative, regulatory, and organisational needs, and implement a comprehensive compliance framework.Coordinate the annual placement of insurance policies and ensure strong working relationships with our insurance broker and insurers including in the submission of claims.Support compliance management processes by designing and implementing a comprehensive compliance framework that aligns with Newcastle Anglican's strategic pillars and risk appetite.About you: Tertiary qualifications in risk management, compliance or a related discipline or equivalent demonstrated experience in that fieldA risk and compliance leader with demonstrated experience leading and implementing a risk and compliance functionStrong influencing and negotiation skills demonstrating high levels of commerciality and pragmatism.Proven experience in promoting and delivering continuous improvement, reviewing policies, procedures and systems, based on best practice and innovation.Demonstrated management competence in: Leadership; Operational Planning; Organisation Management; Continuous Quality Improvement; Human Resources; Time Management; External Relations; and Service ProvisionDemonstrated comprehensive high level knowledge of the Health and Aged Care, Not for Profit, Disability and Social Services Sectors including funding and policy protocols, accreditation and industrial legislation will be beneficial.Who we are: Formerly known as the Anglican Diocese of Newcastle, Newcastle Anglican is a faith-based organisation serving the people of the Hunter and the Central Coast.
