Due to restructure, we have an exciting opportunity at Newcastle Anglican for our new Director Risk & Compliance. This vacancy has an essential role in developing the strategic response to risk, ensuring effective insurance and establishing a critical incident response framework.
This role is perfect for an experienced Risk & Compliance leader who enjoys owning a process and making an impactful change to the organisation. This includes raising the risk management profile and maturity across the organisation and ensuring its readiness for critical events.
This is a Permanent Full Time vacancy.

Work for a purpose-driven organisation where you can access opportunities for growth and advancement across all of our servicesGenerous salary packaging benefits of up to $15,900 paUp to 40% discount on school enrolment fees at any of our Newcastle Anglican schoolsDiscounted private health insurance through MedibankA unique culture promoting diversity, cultural competence and shared valuesAccess to over 300+ gyms with the Fitness Passport ProgramFree annual flu vaccinationsFree access to our corporate Employee Assistance Program14 weeks paid parental leave or 3 weeks paid partner leave.Flexible working arrangements – Talk to us about your needs!Role & Responsibilities: Ensuring that Newcastle Anglican takes an all agency and strategic approach to the management of risk;Supporting the Executive Director of Quality, Safety and Risk in promoting risk-based considerations with risk appetite statement, risk management and business cases through ELT, the NAC Board and, where appropriate, the Diocesan Council.Promoting a strong risk culture that reinforces risk as core to strategy, business operationsAssisting the Executive Director in improving the overall Risk maturity with a focus on the annual risk management and continuous management of the Risk Management frameworkIdentifying and assessing emerging risks and recommending approaches to managing these risksPerforming risk assessments for operational and strategic areas across NAC and developing risk mitigation plans and support their effective implementation.Providing risk management reporting to the Board, Senior Leadership, Management and Audit and Risk Committee.Providing guidance for and managing the research, development and review of organisation-wide policy documents ensuring legislative, regulatory, organisational needs are met and the Newcastle Anglican policy position is properly represented and in line with our maturity framework.Coordinating the annual placement of insurance policies and ensure strong working relationships with our insurance broker and insurers including in the submission of claims.Supporting compliance management processes by designing and implementing a comprehensive compliance framework that aligns with Newcastle Anglican's strategic pillars and risk appetiteOverseeing the development and implementation by operational areas of compliance policies, procedures, and guidelines tailored to NAC's specific needs and regulatory requirements.Lead a team of direct and indirect reportsAbout you? Tertiary qualifications in risk management, compliance or a related discipline or equivalent demonstrated experience in that fieldA risk and compliance leader with demonstrable experience leading and implementing a risk and compliance functionBackground in a complex organisationStrong influencing and negotiation skills demonstrating high levels of commerciality and pragmatism.Proven experience in promoting and delivering continuous improvement, reviewing policies, procedures and systems, based on best practice and innovation.Demonstrated management competence in: Leadership; Operational Planning; Organisation Management; Continuous Quality Improvement; Human Resources; Time Management; External Relations; and Service ProvisionDemonstrated comprehensive high level knowledge of the Health and Aged Care, Not for Profit, Disability and Social Services Sectors including funding and policy protocols, accreditation and industrial legislation will be beneficial.Who we are?
