The Shire of East Pilbara is the largest local government in Australia, covering an area roughly the size of Japan on the edge of the Western Desert in the north of Western Australia.
With a population of around 12,000 and over 450,000 airport transfers per annum, the Shire provides services and facilities across the three towns of Newman, Marble Bar, and Nullagine.
The Shire is also the gateway to several remote Aboriginal communities.
Reporting to the CEO and as a member of the Executive Team, you will ensure that the Directorate's strategic objectives and activities align with the organisational plans to effectively deliver established targets and outcomes across all relevant areas, including: Strategic and statutory town planning Environmental health Facilities and property management Building approvals and compliance services Ranger emergency management services You will ensure that the highest standards of human resources and financial management are practiced within the Directorate; contribute effectively to the promotion of a safe working environment by exercising your due diligence in line with the WHS Legislation; and maintain productive relationships with all relevant stakeholders.
With appropriate qualifications and senior management experience in regulatory services, your sound commercial acumen and financial management expertise will be complemented by a strategic focus and strong passion for service improvement.
With a proven track record in the delivery of major projects, you will be an innovative and outward-facing individual who is keen to be part of the community and make a difference.
Importantly, your consultative and open management style will enable the continuing development of a dedicated team.
Knowledge of local government functions and statutory obligations will be well regarded.
A competitive remuneration package will be offered to the successful candidate, including a base salary of $187,139 to $203,096, superannuation, motor vehicle, relocation costs, and subsidised housing in Newman.
