We are a diverse and inclusive agency where our people are supported to grow and thrive, with workplace flexibility to help us be at our best.The work areaOur Strategic Policy and Evaluation business unit houses the Performance Monitoring Unit and three Performance and Evaluation Group directorates, each led by a Director overseeing budget and policy-focused teams.Our directorates wrap around the key policy and service delivery portfolios of health and mental health, disabilities, child protection, social housing and community services, education and training, and justice and police – and sector-wide central oversight of delivery and performance, with a particular focus on outcomes for Aboriginal people and communities.Our Directors, and their teams, work together and with the leaders of major departments to advise Government on policy reforms, investment, and outcomes in the services that matter to Western Australians and which make up three quarters of total Government spending. With Treasury's role in supporting Government decision-making, our people have a seat at the table and are uniquely positioned to influence solutions-focused outcomes that make a difference.The opportunityWe are looking for experienced, curious, innovative and outcomes-driven individuals to join Treasury's leadership team and oversee the Performance Monitoring Unit and one of the Performance and Evaluation Group directorates.In this role you will lead, motivate and support high performing teams to provide advice to the Treasurer, the Expenditure Review Committee and Cabinet on a broad remit of core financial management and performance outcomes, new investment decisions, including major infrastructure works and changes to service delivery, policy reform and legislation, evaluation of 'what works', and negotiations on State-Commonwealth partnership agreements.You will work closely and collaboratively with senior stakeholders across portfolio departments and central policy agencies, as well as external stakeholders, to ensure our advice is strategic, pragmatic, and meets desired objectives. Your work environment will be dynamic and high profile, and you'll have the opportunity to demonstrate your ability to navigate complex issues, adapt to change, manage priorities, and build strong and productive working relationships.The Director, Performance Monitoring Unit leads, motivates and supports the Performance Monitoring Unit Team and the Aboriginal Affairs Coordination Unit deliver their objectives, to:take a system-wide view to the delivery of key Government reforms and programs to identify what works, barriers to delivery, and opportunities to improve outcomes;conduct deep dive reviews into the progress of major Government reforms and programs delivered by agencies to track performance and outcomes;work in partnership with agencies to identify key delivery barriers, risks and opportunities, and developing effective and efficient solutions to address them;provide regular advice to Government on progress with delivery of priority commitments;provide a central coordination point within Treasury for issues relating to Native Title, Closing the Gap, and outcomes for Aboriginal people and communities;deliver the annual Western Australian Aboriginal Expenditure Review, a key commitment under the Closing the Gap National Partnership Agreement.The Director Performance and Evaluation Group 3 leads, motivates and supports three budget and policy-focused portfolio teams who oversee the Education and Training and Justice portfolios (courts, corrective services, youth justice, police, and road safety), including to:undertake the core advisory role to Government on its decision-making relating to policy and investments, covering major school and justice infrastructure projects across the State, service delivery performance;oversee and provide advice on the financial performance and management of major service delivery departments covering almost 30 per cent of State government spending, and significant asset investment delivery programs;provide advice on strategies and positions impacting negotiations on State and Commonwealth national partnership agreements covering funding for Western Australian schools, training and workforce development and legal assistance areas;work collaboratively with, and support, portfolio agency partners to identify innovative and pragmatic solutions to systemic policy challenges for consideration by decision-makers.As members of the Treasury leadership team, both Director roles:represent Treasury at Ministerial and Director-General-level, cross-agency oversight and steering committees and forums involving external stakeholders;provide strategic direction and leadership to their directorates, through developing, coaching, and managing teams and fostering the sector's future leaders;contribute actively to achievement of the Department's organisational goals and strategic directions and galvanise collaboration across Treasury and the broader sector.Please note: we anticipate interviews will be conducted in the week commencing 25 November 2024.Visit our careers page to find out why Treasury is an incredible place to work.
