Director, People & Culture (Several Positions)

Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) DivisionWho we areThe Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) is a Corporate Commonwealth entity. ARENA's main objective is to improve the competitiveness of renewable energy technologies and increase the supply of renewable energy in Australia. ARENA was established on 1 July 2012 under the Australian Renewable Energy Agency Act 2011 (the ARENA Act). ARENA has received significant additional funding over the past 3 budget cycles and is trusted by the Government to deliver many of its most impactful emissions reduction programs.

ARENA supports the Government's emissions reduction goals of 43% reduction in net emissions by 2030 and net zero by 2050, through its focus on technology innovation and commercialisation to the benefit of Australia. ARENA complements other funding bodies and provides financial assistance to renewable energy, energy efficiency and electrification technologies for research, development, demonstration and deployment projects. The provision of knowledge sharing forms an important part of ARENA's functions. ARENA operates under its own Act of Parliament, and the ARENA Board and CEO are responsible to the Minister for Climate Change and Energy, the Hon. Chris Bowen MP.

The People and Culture team provides operational and strategic human resource programs and activities that support the achievement of ARENA's business objectives and the management of its workforce. The team has an ambitious and challenging program of work to deliver in areas including remuneration structures and policies, WHS, recruitment, learning and development, engagement, culture, and performance management. Our team role-models high standards of behaviour in all our interactions and demonstrates leadership in pursuing impact.

A number of Director positions are available within the People and Culture function. Directors are responsible for delivering effective People and Cultural strategies, programs, and services across the agency. These are strategic leadership roles reporting directly to the General Manager, People and Culture, and are critical to shaping ARENA's future in support of the global transition to net zero emissions.

ARENA has a complex workforce model as determined by its enabling legislation, the Australian Renewable Energy Agency Act 2011; the roles therefore have a strong focus on the risks and opportunities presented by the workforce model and the impact of these on our success as an organisation and a place to work.

Director, Remuneration, Data and Workforce Engagement

As the Director of the Remuneration, Data and Workforce Engagement team, you will lead ARENA's remuneration strategies and workforce insights, together with driving the related engagement and retention strategies. The ideal candidate will possess an understanding of remuneration frameworks, strong data and analytical skills, the ability to clearly communicate complex concepts and experience leading engagement-related projects or initiatives.

Director, People Strategy

The Director, People Strategy is a strategic and broad role that is pivotal in ensuring that ARENA has the workforce and workplace culture it needs to achieve its objectives. The role provides advice to the senior leadership team on strategic workforce issues, develops strategies and plans to effectively deliver major HR initiatives and oversees operational HR services. The position requires a strong track record of success as a strategic and people focused leader.

This role requires strong organisational and execution skills to deliver against work plans, including experience delivering projects and initiatives relating to learning and development, performance management, work health and safety, well-being, case management, and workforce planning.

Director, Recruitment

The Director, Recruitment is responsible for ARENA's recruitment and employer branding strategies as well as the day-to-day operation of the recruitment function delivering high quality recruitment outcomes across ARENA's complex workforce model. The position requires strong leadership, execution and interpersonal skills, expert technical knowledge of recruitment, as well as an understanding of public sector procurement.

Taking a broad view of workforce challenges and opportunities, these positions require the ability to advise and influence senior management, collaborate with other senior HR practitioners, and strong management skills to lead a team with a demanding workload. As a Director, you will play a key role in the People and Culture leadership team, working cooperatively to set and uphold a positive workplace culture and role model ARENA's values and behaviours.

As a senior leader, the Director role models ARENA's values and demonstrates leadership and collaboration across the business.

Provide strategic leadership, including setting direction, developing plans, managing risks, and ensuring effective execution.Plan, lead and deliver key projects and initiatives related to ARENA's workforce management.Manage a small team, including setting performance expectations, monitoring performance, and providing coaching and mentoring to support capability development.Work collaboratively across the agency including engaging with senior stakeholders as appropriate.Provide high-quality advice and guidance to senior leaders, managers, and workers.Develop and review HR-related policies and processes, including engaging with stakeholders and ensuring effective consultation.Manage the delivery of reports and analysis related to workforce issues, trends, and strategies.Prepare correspondence, briefs and reports including submissions for senior leadership and committee considerations.Ensure the delivery of high-quality operation HR services to the business.Manage relationships and contracts for external service providers services as required.Ensure compliance with key employment and workplace related legislation and frameworks.

Demonstrated experience delivering in strategies, projects and services related to remuneration and workforce insights, people strategy or recruitment.Demonstrated ability to plan a program of work that anticipates needs, establishes priorities, monitors progress, and delivers required outcomes.Agility to move between detailed, process-oriented operational work, and more strategic, business-focused work.Understanding of employment legislation, frameworks, and employment conditions in the public sector.Demonstrated leadership skills including the ability to influence senior staff and build strong business relationships with people at all levels.

Security Clearance

- This position requires a Baseline Vetting security clearance. You will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
