Full-time PermanentDetails: The Emergency Services Agency is seeking collaborative, motivated, and experienced applicants to apply for the role of Director, Operations and Capability (DOC).

The Director Operations and Capability (DOC) supports the Chief Officer of the ACT State Emergency Service (SES) in leading and managing the Service.
This role implements programs, policies, and administrative systems to enable critical ACTSES operational activities, as well as leading and managing operational programs.
You will be highly organised, have good attention to detail, be self-motivated, be passionate about volunteers in emergency management and respond efficiently to business needs while adhering to tight timeframes.
The DOC will manage people, projects, and everyday operations of the ACRSES in a dynamic environment.
Supportive leadership is at the core of the ESA and the ACTSES.
Successful candidates will maintain collaborative relationships with staff and volunteers across Services as well as with other Government agencies, upholding effective lines of communication and transparency for operation preparedness and response.
The DOC represents the ACTSES and the ESA in local and national forums, committees and working groups, and will raise community awareness about storm and flood preparedness.
If directed, you will fulfil the functions as Deputy Chief Officer of the ACTSES under the Emergencies Act 2004.

Eligibility/Other requirements: Background in working or volunteering in an emergency services organisation is highly desirable.Qualifications and/or experience in a field relating to emergency management are desirable.Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) - Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required.Background and Security clearance checks will be conducted including National Police Records Check.Work after hours and on weekends, including attending meetings, local Unit visits, and through periods of heightened operational response.Participation as Duty Officer may be required if the holder of the position has the needed background knowledge and skills needed to perform the duty role.Willingness to assist in supporting operational responses to emergency incidents including outside of normal working hours.Notes: An order of merit will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months.

This position is required to work after hours and at weekends, including attending meetings, local Unit visits, through periods of operational response, and participation as Duty Officer will be required.
