Director of Nursing, Professional CapabilityWe have an exciting, permanent full-time opportunity for you to join the Office of the Chief Nurse Officer in Clinical Excellence Queensland based in Herston. Demonstrate clinical, management and leadership expertise, experience, and aptitude to provide advanced system-wide support to optimise the profession's practice and services within Queensland Health.
The role
The Director of Nursing Professional Capability is a registered nurse who has delegated responsibilities in relation to this role to support the Chief Nurse Officer in the Office of the Chief Nurse Officer. At times the role may need to be inclusive of both the professions of nursing and midwifery, where practice crosses over both professions, and consult with the Office of the Chief Midwife Officer (OCMwO). The position demonstrates clinical, management and leadership expertise, experience, and aptitude to provide advanced corporate support to optimise the professions' practice and services. The Director of Nursing is responsible for strategic leadership in planning, coordination, formulation, and direction of policies in relation to the professional capability, and capacity of the nursing profession. This includes in relation to legislation, regulation, education, research, and professional leadership to facilitate the availability of adequately prepared and qualified nursing staff within the state's clinical services. The position has responsibility for staff directly reporting for specific portfolios.
The successful person
You will have demonstrated:

Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a registered nurse.Extensive post registration clinical experience and professional recognition. While not mandatory, a relevant qualification or progress in relevant tertiary studies would be well regarded.Ability to distil expertise and intelligence from clinical and professional stakeholders in Hospital and Health Services and Professional Nursing Colleges to actively inform and contribute to the priorities of OCNO.Experience and knowledge of health care systems and priorities at the state and national level.Understanding of, and ability to, contribute to the development of parameters and metrics to measure the quality of nursing practice and practice development.Ability to multi-task and priority set complex issues, in a highly visible and politically sensitive sector, including the ability to report to the Minister and/or Departmental leaders on a range of nursing professional issues.About us
