Aboriginal applicants will be granted priority consideration for this vacancy.Primary objective: Effectively manage the NT Land Information Systems (NTLIS) Program and provide strategic leadership and operational direction for spatial information and Geographic Information System (GIS) services within the NTLIS environment.Key duties and responsibilities:Ensure the human, financial and technical resources of NTLIS are managed to deliver approved outputs and outcomes.Direct the development, implementation and monitoring of business strategies and applications designed to deliver spatial data and services to government, the private sector, and the public.Coordinate and/or participate in interdepartmental, inter-government, and inter-industry activities designed to improve the delivery of spatial information and services.Provide strategic and policy advice on spatial information management and GIS technology.Ensure the effective whole of government management of the data and applications in the NTLIS environment and deliver GIS support services to government.Selection criteria:Essential:Extensive knowledge of and demonstrated practical experience managing spatial data and land information systems.Substantial experience in the management of a discrete function and team to deliver specified outputs and outcomes.Demonstrated ability to analyse complex land and spatial information challenges from both strategic and operational perspectives.Highly developed interpersonal, communication and leadership skills including the demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts and information by influencing, consulting, collaborating, negotiating, engaging, and presenting to a wide range of audiences.Ability to effectively represent the NT Government on jurisdictional working groups related to spatial data and land information matters.Knowledge of policy, principles and standards relating to the management, distribution and use of land and spatial information in Australia.Thorough understanding of the spatial information industry locally and nationally, and the ability to establish strong relationships with the public and private sector.Desirable:Tertiary qualifications in a discipline relating to the spatial information industry or demonstrated relevant experience.
