Role Overview
As the Director of Cost Management, you will lead and oversee the cost management team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality cost consultancy services. You will be responsible for creating and managing budgets, improving cost management processes, and building strong relationships with clients and stakeholders. Your expertise will drive the financial success of large-scale and complex construction, infrastructure, and energy projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the preparation and review of cost estimates and cost plans, including benchmarking.
Develop Value Engineering and Life Cycle Costing options to optimize project costs.
Identify potential risks and assist with maintaining the Risk Register.
Participate in pre-contract meetings, providing valuable cost insights.
Develop and prepare detailed cost control reports.
Attend client and design team meetings, advising on cost implications and capturing meeting outcomes.
Contribute to the development of project templates and cost management processes.
Oversee the preparation and processing of change order logs, invoice logs, and cost reports.
Conduct measurements and research pricing for development appraisals.
Draft and finalize pre-qualification questionnaires and review responses.
Maintain and enhance cost control processes, including cost applications, schedule of values, buyouts, and change orders.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 10 years of cost management experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Proficient in the use of advanced functions in CostX to produce estimates, bills, etc.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Project management experience is a plus.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
