We have an incredible opportunity for a Director to join the Group Strategy team at Westpac. This role is critical to the development of Group and Line of Business strategy. You will work with GM level stakeholders and their colleagues to identify strategic issues that should be prioritized, define problems and develop the strategy. You will influence and support the critical decision-making of the senior executives, creating compelling cases for change.
In addition to this you will:
Be the first port of call for senior business leaders, helping to pro-actively identify strategic issues, define problems and share insights. Have end-to-end responsibility to lead projects that solve complex and ambiguous problems, including constructively challenging key hypotheses, structuring and managing the delivery of the project, facilitating workshops and Steering Groups, ensuring recommendations are consistent with the overall Group direction and are executable by the business. Play a key role in uplifting the technical skills and business acumen of junior team members through working with them on projects, building capability and standards outside of project work and further strengthening the team culture. Be skilled and confident in communicating with senior leaders in a clear, simple and structured way including responsibility for developing high-quality Executive Team and Board papers. Be responsible for the oversight and assurance of high-quality analysis/modelling to support the project. Have sound judgement and resilience to navigate large, complex organizations in order to influence the business and drive change. Regularly communicate with Heads of Strategy to provide updates and escalate appropriately. Remain current on key developments relating to banking competitors, particularly with respect to their strategic direction and execution capability. What's in it for me?

What do I need?
To be successful in this role you will have at least 8 years' business experience in management consulting, strategy or relevant business roles. You must have exceptional banking/financial services expertise, with excellent strategic thinking skills, defined as the ability to creatively approach and structure complex, potentially unfamiliar ambiguous issues. You will have exceptional communication skills, both orally and in writing, and will have experience working with and presenting to senior stakeholders.
In addition to this you will have:
Experience leading business strategy projects or teams. The ability to work well within a team environment, develop relationships, share and structure work plans. Ability to manage to deadlines and deliver on time with high quality. The ability to build peer relationships within the team, but also of the team more broadly across the Westpac group. The ability to find ways to contribute to the Group Strategy and broader Westpac Group beyond project work. What is it like to work there?
